for a drug like xanex or valium and it show up positive on a drug test can they not hire you because of it? Can the levels show if you're taking more then what your perscription was? I was perscriped 6 white xanex tabs about a month ago and I take about half of an orange one every other night or so-can they tell that? Also how long does it stay in your system? How long does vicodin, oxy and valium stay in your system as well?

opiates stay in your system about a week I think. Pot is the only one that lasts a month and I've heard LSD stays in your nervous system forever, but I'm not sure if that's true.

If you have a prescription for something there is no way someone can choose to not hire you because you have traces of it in your urine.

also, depending on what job you are applying for, I doubt they are testing for anything other than pot, coke, and opiates.

Xanax is not an opiate, I wouldn't worry about it at all. :)

you know, I really don't know. All I can say is that if they test for pot, coke and opiates would prolly show up as well.

You can get home test kits for only pot, but most places of business test for more than just THC. Might as well. A lot of places don't test because they care, but because it makes thier insurance go down. We found this out. We thought about doing it, but we'd lose all our employees!

If you get a drug test, I can guarantee you that they will be testing for pot. Since pot stays in your system for like a month, and everything else leaves your body in 4 days at most (and no, LSD does NOT stay in your body forever...please don't believe everything you hear :) ), piss tests are primarily used, IMO, for the detection of marijuana.

yea an on the note of testing for opiates... most tests wont detect oxy, or hydrocodone, because they are synthetic opiods, they usually test for morphine an its siblings, codeine and heroin. and every test ive herd about at job tests for pot thats pretty much a given.

Synthetic opioids DO show up on an opiate drug screen.

Yes they can, but most jobs don't. For instance, many military positions do not accept applicants who have EVER been prescribed stimulant medications.

When you go for the drug screen, take all of your prescription bottles with you. Benzodiazepines (ie, Xanax) are routinely screened for at many facilities. They can check the drug levels if it is a blood test, but a pre-employment drug screen is not going to do that. It is much more expensive and a time consuming, fairly subjective process.
