Hello everybody, let me introduce myself. My name is Omar Medina, I'm 17 and this is my first time posting on the religon forum. Like the title of my thread says I'm considering converting to Islam, I've been researching it for about 2-3 years now and I fell in love with it. But I have a problem... I have been a practing nudist since I was 13 and I love that too and I'm torn as to which one I should become. I know full well that Islam preaches modesty so obviously I can't be both. Almost everyday I switch, "I'm going to convert to Islam and thats it" the next day "No, you know what I'm staying a nudist". IM TORN!! I know a forum about Islam is not exactly going to be unbiased but I despratly need advice... What should I do???
I believe you have to make up your mind if Islam is worldly or wishing the understanding for it's inception FROM another World.
I'm trying to get the jist for you Faith in God. I of course might be wrong, and maybe I should consider my true actions first and foremost.
You don't have to question my faith. I'm considering converting because Islam actually makes sense to me. I was not raised Christion but my mother is a former Jahova's Witness and brought me up believeing in Jesus at the God and Savior and I've even read The Bible but it just never "clicked" with me. I sarted researching Islam about 2 years a go, I've read all about it and it's honestly one of the few thing that make sense to me. Theres is also my family, who are not the most understanding people, I once casually brought up Islam and they completly attacked it and called Muslim's the usual insults (terrorists, crazy, blah blah blah...) and I've heard stories form Latino Muslims who say after they told their family they were cast out and demonized, one women even said her mother spit in her face. Honestly like I said I'm just torn, I know once I choose one I won't get sick of it and abandon it in a month or anything I just don't know which one to choose...
Why must you grasp for a religion to lean on? Orison has good advice. You can believe in yourself because you know for a fact that you exist. So why waste your time looking for a fairytale to worship?
nudism is not a religion, so you cannot be torn between. as for nudism in Islam, it cannot be. perhaps not what you want to hear, but you could get a fatwa on it ...there are some available online too
Does nudism have something to do with vegetarianism? Or did that probe dissapear with the rugged pan-Arabic contingency?
Best Advice Ever.. You Are Only 17, So Why Burdon Yourself With All This Religious Crap... Go Out And Live Your Life, Then If This Issue Re-Surfaces In 10 Years Time, You Will Be All The More Mature To Deal With It.... Till Then, Take Care... Cheers Glen.
I understand and am aware on that that is the reason I'm torn, I enjoy being nude. Islam encourages modesty and obviously nudity does not fall into modesty. "Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and be modest. That is purer for them. Lo! Allah is aware of what they do. "(4:31) Right? Nudism and Islam are not compatible.
You should wait some more, you don't sound too decisive or strong-willed, no offense. Religion is a lot about rules and you just don't seem ready. If you keep changing your mind all the time, it's just not it....
None taken, I've been called worse. No one has to worry about me, I'm not going to convert tommorow or aything like that. I just posted for some advice is all.
My advice is to study the religions and think about it and see which one you agree with if any. No reason to rush into anything.
If you are feeling spiritual emptiness, i think you should not restrict your self to islam.read about buddhism, hinduism, shintoism, taoism. Because islam has an inherent weakness, it espouses arabic supremacy under the garb of the religion and completely rejects other non muslim faiths. you can see in majority of muslim nations, non muslims are lesser citizens. I would suggest read about buddhism, it's rational, peaceful and does not discriminate among human beings on the account of race and religion.
well I have heard the old mantra to thin own self be true. why not start your own religion? In the larger cities peeps would check out a religon where you could be naked and be with god?
When one views religion as stepping stones to enlightenment and studies each as if attending a class, that can be graduated from,a fundamental religion is a good start. However if one becomes enslaved with doctrines and attempts to secure a heavenly realm within, fanaticism will always incur. The proper path to enlightenment is exactly that,a path not a perch from where one can judge other paths. Our studies should help us to ascend into great realms of understanding our brother, not direct us to descend into trying to control him.
Faith isn't really something that others can decide for you. People can give you as much advice as you can handle, but it really is down to you. If you believe a certain faith is what you want to follow, then sometimes others things need to change. Or if you are happy to try and incorporate both then do that. My only advice would be to do what makes you happy and don't go changing everything about you to fit into a certain faith.
