So make my life easy. What kind of birth control pill should I look into? What I need: -To not get pregnant. -To have light periods without paralyzing cramps. -Something that's relatively inexpensive. -Something that doesn't have (or has few) weird side effects. My nipples are hairy enough. Enlighten me with your baby-preventing wisdom.
tri cyclen was good but it gave me yeast infections fairly frequently. Then again, I seem to be prone to them even when not on the pill, but it is a side affect of some pills I'm on alesse now.. it's good except now I ahve pms every now and then, which I never used to have. I think my tits have grown a little though. Apparently yasmin is a good brand for gaining nearly a cup size with :S
the pill wont prevent stds. still need to use condoms i'm very anti-pill. i think it's really good at making money for pharmaceutical companies and that it has wayyyyyyy too many side effects. i take evening primrose oil during the second half of my cycle~it seems to do a very good job of preventing cramps for me, and for many other women who have tried it.
Cylessa, only $14 per pack. My lady has been on that for almost 5 years and I havent used a condom yet.
Asking random strangers on the internet which pill you should try is like asking a random drug dealer what you should take to cure cancer. Talk to the gyno. Explain what menstrual symptoms you have experienced in the past and what you're hoping to get out of the pill. That will give the doc the best idea of what pill will work best for you. Even then, you never know -- I get really severe cramps, so they put me on a high enough dose of hormones to get rid of the cramps... Then I found out that I am oddly sensitive to hormones, so if it's a high enuf dose to kill the cramps, it makes me cry for a week straight every month (before, I barely noticed PMS). Most of the pills people on here have mentioned would pretty much make me useless for a solid week every month. But they work great for other people. It's all about your body chemistry and how it reacts to a certain pill. Which is why you should be talking to your gyno about this.
I don't have a gynecologist. So getting any kind of personal testimony is better than going in with nothing. And I'm not planning on having random unprotected sex with multiple people. Just one. I'm not worried about STD's right now.
I have seasonale... its like 150 a pack but its for 3 months and you only get 4 pds a year. Whatever you do don't do the patch though- knew a girl who got preggo on it (didn't even know til she had the kid) and I just saw a commercial about it causing major blood clots and law suits and stuff You might consider calling your health department though. Here they give reduced or even free birth control.
Don't you have to see a gynecologist to get the prescription? Whoever is in charge of writing 'scripts at the PP should have the education to adequately suggest a pill that will be likely to work for you and do what you want it to do. Are they seriously not going to do an exam with a pap smear? Or have you not actually had sex yet (just planning to)?
BTW, you can do this with any monophasic bc pill -- just skip the week of sugar pills. It's more expensive (buy an extra pack of pills every 12 weeks), but it's definitely worth it for me (especially since my pills are only $10 a pack with my insurance).
While it's true that every woman reacts a little differently, there are some strong similarities in experiences with pills. I know of almost a dozen people whos breasts grew in size while on yasmin, about five other girls who were moody on alesse and two other gals who got more yeast infections while on tri cyclen. It's not the absolute truth of how someone will react, but it can be a good guide or a set of suggestions, n'est pas? and toolmaggot, even if you don't have a gyno (which I don't either) make sure your'e getting a complete physical once a year when you see a doc. Yes, that includes the pap smear. doesn't hurt, just a little uncomfortable. Hell, you'll probably laugh the whole way through it, it's such a silly thing to experience.
I think you should go natural. if you only have that one partner. both of you should start learning what days you are fertile and what days you aren't. It's really so tight for the couple! it breeds real love too. I mean if you know a stove is hot you won't touch it....same here. if you know today you are fertile, but in three days you won't be, it really makes for some powerful coming together! Put him in touch with me and let me talk to him about it....
Yeah, I agree. But can you say which pill is most likely to help with which set of symptoms? Because I certainly can't. Which is why these girls (it seems like I've seen a lot of posts on this subject in the past month or two) need to talk to whoever it is prescribing the pills -- I've never had a regular gyno, but I have had a pap every year (sometimes PP, sometimes health dept., sometimes student health center), and tend to think of the person performing my exam and prescribing my pills as a gyno. Whoever prescribes the pills should be far more educated than the average user as to which pills tend to have which side effects, which tend to help which symptoms, etc. Their job is to decide which pill to prescribe to a variety of women with a huge variety of combinations of menstrual (and non-menstrual, like acne) symptoms... I know I've only paid attention to which pills work for my special set of symtoms...
That's quite alright. I already monitor my cycles. But he's 18. So me getting pregnant would be really bad. The calendar method doesn't seem too reliable.
I'm getting birth control without a pelvic exam. Don't want it, don't need it. And no, I'm not a virgin. This is my only partner.
Tool...I'm glad you're not taking this bit of advice. BAD idea. I'm all for being "natural" and "hug a fucking tree" and calling a period a "moon phase"...but seriously. And who wants to wait three days to fuck? I'm not puting phooqu2 down, I just think this way is a BAD, BAD idea.
have you had one since you had sex with him the first time? have you had one at all? You still should because there is an infection HPV that you need to watch for. I almost had cervical cancer because of it. There isn't a test for guys and in some rare cases it occurs naturally in the body. So you need to make sure you don't have anything like that.
Yeah, don't worry. Being "natural" doesn't really twirl my beanie. Hah, hey, coincidence. Either does having a kid. And I'd cut my nuts off before I called it a "moon phase". --- To answer the other question, I've never had any kind of **** exam.
Oh, and... They don't charge for appointments if you're under 17, right? 'Cause I be a bit hard up on the money.
