and im gonna play for free with my multicultural freinds and combine all the best styles of music. It's gonna be the shit, and im gonna play guitar in it, and i will be the best. you can doubt it now, go ahead, but everyone will soon recognize us and the music will be great.
People who know they are are/will be great dont need to tell people how great they are. A little less arogancy will help in the long run.
Go gmdukes! No one will ever promote you better than you...good to see such confidence. Keep workin at living up to that confidence.
thanks, we dont have a name yet, we mostly just been jamming accoustic at gatherings and parties and stuff, but we do need to get a name. maybe ill come up with one tonight when i meet up with my outher guitar player. my whole life i always thought i could be in a great band, because ive always understood music so much, but i been playing guitar for 3 years and im self taught, and everything is just coming so easily and naturally to me everyday, and i do think that self promotion is the key, and its not being arrogant, it only helps because only people with the best confidence get anywhere in life, it gets you what you want and it gets things done. unless your steve howe from YES, being silent about your abillites gets you nowhere, right? look at my dad for example, awesome guitar player, he lets you know that too, hes in your face, and he fired his whole band and plays solo and he can play any show around philly he wants and hes not that famous yet!
Well, you can promote your band without sounding arrogant. Being silent about your abilities is simply being respectfully humble. Trust me, being in the music world long enough, you'll meet some people who'll take you down a peg,...or few, and it hurts a lot more when you came into the situation riding your high horse. Have you ever heard the P.R. phrase "cream always rises"? It's true. If you're good enough, and creative enough, you'll be noticed. You don't need to tell others about yourself. This reminds me of Michael Romeo of Symphony X. He got up on stage in New Jersey as an unknown in 1993, and was in a platinum selling progressive metal band by 1994. Why? Because he could play. Steve Vai was the same way. Left Berklee, went out there, and people said "wow, this little Italian kid can play" and thus, the Vai legacy was born. If you suck, you won't rise. If you're really as good as you say you are, keep your lips sealed and let your music speak for itself. What is the genre of the band, by the way? In the vain of what bands do you play?
its all kinds of music like blues, jazz, prog (not metal), latin, and just weird tripped out shit, some songs are like jeff beck, some like Yes, some like Santana, some like the dead, and we mostly make jams up like bluegrass, i dont know you have to hear it. but i got to get more recordings of us so people can, because right now we only ever play at local fests.
