yea, I also use it some times, when no mirror available! It's also a way, something like modern mirror !
I think it's just because the view is better than your own vantage point. I'm not sure why a better view is good..... but meh...
I imagine the reason why a different perspective view is better is because it can give the imprssion that you are watching someone else.
