I know there are already other posts about this... but... I need a buddy to help me stay motivated and to help me keep going with my diet and excercise plan. I tend to slack off if I don't have someone I can talk with about it!! My doctor tells me I am 50 lbs overweight, so I have been trying to loose... but it is not easy at all!!! Today the scale says 177... a couple weeks ago I was at 185 in the doctor's office. I've been trying to walk during lunch time at work, and to walk in the evenings when it's not too cold. I have been trying to cut my portions to smaller sizes, and to eat more fruits and veggies. I do great during the day, but then at night when I am home, I am around my fiance, who is twice as big as I am and he can eat 2x as much food and not gain weight. It is hard to be around him because he is constantly talking about food, eating, etc. It is hard to stick to a diet around him! Then when I tell him about it he gets defensive and mad. It is especially hard for me because I am constantly hungry. After I eat, a half hour I am starving again it seems. I've tried to eat smaller, more frequent meals, but it is hard during the day because I work in an office, and we aren't supposed to have food at our desks. I have tried the slimfast diet before, but half an hour after a shake I would be so hungry again! Is there anyone out there that can relate?
I am in a similar situation. I do real good in the summer time. But like in the winter I eat a lot and gain weight then I have to try and lose it all, and im lazy so that doesnt work out to good. I only want to drop about 15 pounds and I will be totally happy. I cant do much cause im only 16, there are no gyms around here. I dont eat a lot of vegetables, but I dont eat any junk food at all. So I dont know what the problem is, I hate candy, I always have. I dont eat chips. I think its because my diet consists of a LOT of meat. I drink sweet tea all day long. Maybe that has something to do with it, and I am not very active.
I'll be your buddy too. I'm in the same boat as you, I'm 170 and I need to loose a lot to be in a healthy weight range.
Heres my advice. I just lost 20 pounds. Start by drinking nothng but water. All that suger packs on calories quick. Its hard becuase if you've been drink sugar & caffine drinks 4 a long time your body will grave that shit, but be strong. Remeber if you walk on your lunch and come back and eat lets say a candy bar or soemthing, those calories that you just walked off are added back on, plus more probably. You have to burn more calories than you take in each day to lose wieght. Stick with whole grian stuff(good carbs). O and one more thing dont think your going to lose wieght really quick. It takes time, thats why alot of people dont exercise, they want instant rezolts. The first 5 or so pounds will come off easy, but after that its going to take time.

ok...I'm jumping on this boat..but I might make us all sink... I have about 50 ponds to lose...and I have been slacking off on my 2 mile a day jog...errr ...motivation should come pay me a visit
Last year I managed to lose the weight I needed to lose. I am 5'5" and weighed 168 lbs, and now I'm down to 132 (and would like to lose just a couple more). The secret is to drink lots and lots of water. It fills you up. Of course, you should exercise and eat right, but I found that drinking water made a difference for me.
Hey sorry everyone, I wrote this post and totally forgot all about it... I have had SO MUCH going on lately, so much. Anyway, I am going to Bonnaroo in two days, but after I arrive back home I am going to start back up on my diet and exercise plan full force. And thanks to all who replied, y'all can pm me if you'd like to converse further... Sorry Tracy I haven't been home much at all! And I do drink LOTS of water. I have a large mug where I work, and I fill it up with ice and water at least 5 times during the day. And I still drink lots at home too. If I don't drink lots of water I feel dehydrated and get headaches. Water is usually all I drink, unless I have maybe 1 diet soda during the day, or I share one when I get home. I usually drink 1 glass of milk a day too (but eat dairy in cereal or yogurt, I try to get 3 servings) What I typically eat during the day: Breakfast: either a bowl of kashi go lean cereal and milk with a banana and raspberries Snack: usually an apple or a kashi cereal bar or fatfree yogurt Lunch: Usually 3-4 different veggies and a small portion of chicken or turkey (I don't like meat much) or a frozen lean cuisine meal (usually the lower calorie range ones) and a diet soda Afternoon snack: I usually eat mixed fruit or peaches or pears or something, usually ones in water or light syrup. Supper: Usually supper is my worst time of day because I have to make something my fiance will eat. I try to stick to mostly veggies to fill up on though. I sometimes eat a lean cuisine though, and let him find something. Too often we have pizza (but I usually only have 1-2 slices) I usually don't snack after supper. I kept track of everything I ate and calories for about 2 weeks and almost every day (except when we went to mom's for a bbq) I stayed within my recommended calorie range from my doctor (1200-1500) Even if I walk for an hr a day and work out at curves for 1/2 an hour I still have a very hard time losing weight.
Ive noticed the more you think and worry about losing weight the harder it is. If you just kinda say I am gonna lose some weight, and then just make minor adjustments, you will lose some, but not super fast or anything.
Just try to keep your fat intake to about 10-15% a day. Alot of carbs and protein can make this so much easier.
its ok Zepp... I hope everythings ok... I still haven't lost weight either.... its ok though... I'm trying to chill ya know... In 3 weeks My boyfriend and I are going abroad for 6 weeks. i'm really hoping that I'll lose some weight while we're away, I'll be eating lots of fruit and vegetables and bike riding and walking alot... I think Ken and I are gonna try to go exploring everyday. more later-Tracy
Good luck! HAve fun... I know when I was in France and Holland I thought I would lose some cause I walked everywhere, except for taking the metro in Paris when it was too far to walk. We walked all day! But we ate too much wonderful cheese and chocolate and pastries... Food just isn't as wonderful or romantic at home.
