i'm an idiot.. some already know the story, but.. so on friday night me and my boys got drunk and we went to my room to smoke a blunt (i know.. really stupid). a cop comes and knocks on the door because someone reported us cause it smelled like weed. we didn't answer the door and he opens the door and i go out to talk to him. i got away with it, i didn't let him search the room and he couldn't do anything about it so he left. i just got a letter saying that i now have to go to a court type thing for the school because i'm on disiplinary probation. i'm already on residence probation for drinking last semester and i got caught propping an outside door while i was having a cigarette. so i'm in trouble now because 1. i didn't answer the door 2. use/possession of drugs (which they can't prove, the only thing they can say is it smelled) 3. conduct that ivolates residence hall rules 4. conduct prohibited by law and then it says "you are alleged to have smoked marijuana in the residence hall on blah blah blah" and "you did not respond to the request of university staff to open the door" they didn't give a date as to when i have to show up for the thing but it gave a time which makes me wonder if it's tomorrow. i just read some of the student conduct handbook and it said they give me 5 days so i'm gunna call in the morning. what should i do??!?!?!?!!?!? FUCK MY LIFE!
that's exactly what i'm planning on saying to my parents if i get kicked out. i have to make my case and shit, that's the part i need help with so if anyone has any advice i'd be grateful
that sucks... even though they cant prove it, they know what you were doing... i have no advice though, sorry.
Start looking for a job, some roommates and a friend with a pick-up truck... sounds like you're fixing to move, pal. Not to add insult to injury, but... Also, you're dead if anyone thinks to home test you... Sorry.
i was on the bed at the time so i think i might say that i was sleeping at the time (cause it was 1:30 in the morning) and the people that were in my room didn't answer the door for whatever reason edit: do you really think they would/can kick me out of the residence hall just for the smell?
On the other side of the coin, (Yes, there IS one!) Hey! For all you knew, it was the peeps doing the drugs at the door, and you were crashing for the night, the other folks were leaving, (maybe THEY didn't want to get mixed up with drug users), and that was it. SURE you've smoked some herb since you've been there ~ Cripes! It's COLLEGE (right???)! But after LAST semester's little catastrophes, you're on your best behaviour, and would NEVER be dumb enough to do something like THAT! (You MUST be looking INTO their eyes, unblinkingly, when you say that last part, capiche? Cool.) THAT would explain everything, i think. p.s. RUN OUT, don't walk, and get yourself some Ozium Air Freshener ~ The indoor smokers BEST FRIEND!!!
i'm not going to say that anyone in my room was smoking pot in my room. i'll go with "it could have been my neighbor's room, all i know is i was sleeping while my friends were eating pizza and playing cards" i'll throw in the cards thing so that i have an excuse to have let them stay in the room while i was sleeping
i just realized something. the letter said 3/6 which was friday at 1:12am. now, it was friday night meaning it was 3/7, saturday morning, at 1:12am so technically there was nobody knocking on my door on 3/6 and if there was i really was asleep and definitely not smoking marijuana i might be able to use this should i say right away that i never got a knock that morning, or at least didn't hear it cause i was asleep, and if they say "well you talked to the cop" then i'll say i absolutely did no such thing, which will be the truth
i just looked through the handbook and it says all kinds of things about not having or using or selling drugs but nothing about the smell of drugs and since i didn't allow them to find anything they can't do shit. the only thing i'm worried about now is the fact that i didn't answer the door but hopefully i can get out of it i feel a lot better now, but i'm still open to advice
I wouldn't bet your whole case on such a technicality. They'll probably be like "You KNOW what it meant". It's COLLEGE you're dealing with, not just the cops. The law can be fucked pretty easily by technicalities, but not school, because you basically have to sign your life away. Fyrenza's advice has all been damn good, imo.
well i'm going to say it right away anyway and if they fix it they fix it. however, do you think it would hurt my case since i obviously am just pointing out an error to get out of it?
Very possible. I'm sure if you say that right away they'll notice that's what you're doing right away.
well don't you think i should say it at some point no anyway? i need to say something about it, they made an error. i don't think the trial should even begin before they fix it, don't you? edit: i could just say "there's been some kind of mistake here, there was not knock on my door that morning" which will be true, there is a mistake. they can either take that as "you have the wrong guy" or "this happend the morning after and you need to fix that mistake" what d'you think?
Yeah you should probably bring it up at some point. Maybe google around and see how that's worked for other's. I google everything I want tyo know, and I 99% of the time find it.
yeah i did google this whole thing and found a very similar thing happening to someone but the thread didn't go on long enough for the person to tell how it ended. i'll get on googling this question
I fucking hate that. That happens to me a lot when I'm looking for really obscure, rare drugs. Like one person ends up doing it, or no one does, and the thread was like from a year ago and you're like wtf happened? Did everyone just die?
