Income Tax:Right or Wrong?

I have no problem with income tax. With the money I get back every year I donate half of it to charity, so it's all good.

 

It's wrong, and unnecessary.

 

It is not only wrong but also against the US Constitution. And you realize that that money you get back as a "refund" is a long-term interest-free loan to the government, right?

 

It would be ok if the government's weren't so corrupt!

How can you say that income tax is unconstitutional when the sixtennth amendment specifically provides for it?

 

Well some people claim that the amendment was never in a legal way ratified, but also, this amendment was added in 1913, income taxes would make the founding father's roll in their grave.

 

income tax is horrible. it is my mission to get out of paying it as quickly as possible. i don't agree with anything our government does anymore. it's all a bunch of bullshit. i am proud to live in america, but i want nothing to do with our government.

In Canada, income tax was instituted as a temporary measure to help pay for the war.... World War 1...

 

You are correct. Income taxes are constitutional. Our founding fathers were for “no taxation without representation”. That is what the boston tea party was about.

Now as far as a flat tax and a national sales tax goes; I am not sure how I would feel about that. I don’t know if it would be fair or not. So far no one has put out a actual proposal that people can read and either reject or support.

 

I agree with the income tax wholeheartedly. The government provides a lot, so why not give them something back? It provides money for defense and social programs, and of course not all money is used correctly and there's corruption and someone will always disagree with the way it's spent, but in the end I believe in taxes. And as much as people here say they hate the government, I think they'd hate life a lot more without it.

 

Sorry, I'll amend that by saying most people. But in principle I do think taxes are right, whether or not one administration takes or adds programs or not. Governments don't work too well without money, and 2/3 of it in America comes from personal and corporate income taxes. I guess my point is, what is a better solution?

I really don't care how we get the tax money just as long as we get it.

Richie Rich and the CEOs shouldn't be able to use and abuse our natural and public resources without paying the bulk.

I used to be against the progressive tax, but I see how it benefits society by helping to stop the widening gap between the rich and poor --stretching the middle class to pieces and eventually having a NOBLES or PEASANTS type of country.

Why in the hell would ONE PERSON need a billion dollars? Does ONE PERSON really EARN all that? Is the Lotto player or the Wall Street stock junkie really more deserving and hard-working than the ditch digger? Does a few people really need 8 houses and 20 cars?

No. They don't. And no they didn't "earn" it all.

Anyway, money was created by governments, it has government stamps on it and you must pay back what you owe. Period.

Render unto Caesar that which has his stamp on it.

You keep all your resources that you need and exhausted your energies for but, deal with the fact that no one should have a MONOPOLY on the limited resources on this earth. Especially with the fact the millions of people are STARVING TO DEATH.

 

Income Tax is completely unconstitutional, it doesn't matter how you feel about it, it's unconstitutional period. It should not exist.
