What film has inspired you the most? A film that, after viewing it, or even during, you finally got the energy to write that story, song, or screenplay... or maybe it just lifted you completely, enough to take on life...

For me, it'd be Lost In Translation. Not that it "affected" me, or touched me "deeply" or whatnot... But while watching it for the first time, I got paper and began writing, and I finally had the creative energy to write the screenplay that'd be rolling around in my head for awhile. Everytime I see it now.. I am able to write something that I haven't had the energy to write.

So, finally... what's your inspirational film?

theres alot. back a while ago Tarantinos films like reservoir dogs and pulp fiction used to make me want to write scripts becuase hes such a good screenwriter, and Herzogs films like aguirre the wrath of god and nosferatu phantom der nacht made me want to see beautiful images and also put them on screen. most movies i enjoy inspire me alot, as well as music.

Amelie is the movie that always lifts my spirits and makes me feel like doing good deeds and being kind to everyone i meet :)

and Magnolia always makes me feel like writing a song, but i think that's just cos Amiee Mann did the soundtrack for it and is such a dang good songwriter herself.

Babe: Inspired (and later reinforced) my desicion to go vegetarian.

To Die For: I could really relate to the characters (Lydia in particular)
It was the first film I saw where I really paid attention to Joaquin Phoenix (he played Jimmy) fab actor and great guy. Indirectly responsible for much of my corruption. :)
It always cheers me up and gets Sweet home Alabama stuck in my head (great song)

Quills: Inspiring too in the way you've described. Although being a black comedy with lots of porn you can imagine what it prompts.

    Recently,

BAADASSS... great movie, everyone who has struggled can relate to. Here's a good review about it. I highly recommend this movie.

In our hip-hop, bling bling culture, where minority filmmakers feel pressured by white male dominated studios to make either gangster or shuckin’ and jivin’, clownin’ flicks, it is refreshing to see an urban film with not only substance, but a non- preachy, highly entertaining, powerful message...
