New Zealand is one of the foreign countries on my must-see list, along with Australia. The fact that public barefooting isn't frowned upon the way it is here in the U.S. is icing on the cake! :) Thanks for sharing this article.

I am in New Zealand, and even in the South Island in winter, no-one gives bare feet a second look. I have just been to a bank, supermarket and pub barefoot, and no issues as normal.

maybe i should sell everything i own, kiss my craphole dying fatherland goodbye and migrate to NZ. fair climate, bf friendly, wine and no fucking italians around. i am growing racist against my very own people, and for good solid reasons not related to feet or shoes.

I feel much the same way about America.

I love my country. aside from the antibarefoot attitude the people are, for the most part, caring and giving but the direction the country has been heading for the last decade has left me wondering about where we are headed.

I am not , I cannot. sorry to go OT i cannot empathize with my people. it is commonplace, if you ask people about being racists or fascists, that a good part answers you "yes of course". no joke, it is very real, on national TV you hear things like: BUY THE NEWSPAPER "LIBERO" (owned by berlusconi) ATTACHED A DVD WIT ALL THE SPEECHES OF MUSSOLINI, WITH THE ENTHUSIASTIC APPLAUSES !!! wait, wasn't a criminal offense to propagandize fascism, in Italy ? what happened of the law ? after all we have a legal fascist party, FN, which is left free to make political propaganda while in their spare time they organize continuous armed assaults against the gay, the migrant, the black (the last two attacks happened last week), and people regularly never reacts , i started believing that people is glad when a FAG or a ****** gets stabbed, because italians don't know what politically correct means, a fag is a shitty fag and a ****** is a fucking ****** for a vast part of us, period. and the blame of our bigotry, ignorance, racism is just ours.
everyone in Italy is caring exclusively for his own , attempting to escape law and taxes in every possible way while politicians are doing exactly the same thing , and more than this, they are passing laws in order to forbid investigative wiretapping because lately they got into scandals, and at the same time they are attempting to gag what remains of free press and, of course, the internet, like in iran or china. our politicians, get about 130000 EUR a year and have 650000 state cars, and often have three or four different public charges , being paid for each one. they are destroying public health care, public school, our economy, the administration of justice, our constitution and institutions , but they are not satisfied with all this money and are also the most corrupt leading class in the world. they definitely deserve to hang, and the vast majority of my fellow countrymen turning their backs and plugging their ears at the news our imminent doomsday are more guilty than the politicians that spoiled us. this is just a small bit of the infinite sea of liquid shit we are sinking into, i don't even like Italians any more. I am sick of their revolting cowardice and selfishness, of their absolute political indifference, of the _true_ immorality that is today our common way of living, of how they think they're smart in making a fool of their neighbors while they don't see how much they are being ass fucked in turn without noticing, of their fatalism , of their paradoxical , blind faith in that lair of thieves and rapers called the catholic church... i could go on all day long complaining, i better place a full stop and go out in the rain to chill down . sorry for the burst of rage.

Yes, a lot of bare feet in New Zealand. I think the Maori have started the trend, they go around barefoot at times, particularly the children.

I think also it is New Zealands temperate climate. For a good deal of the year the ground temperatre is very comfortable for bare feet.

I spent a lot of chldhood leisure time, barefoot.

I don't care about the kids going barefoot i bet that's common in every country, but if you have been to NZ, the Greatest Country in the World (next to China of course), is it an everyday thing to see barefoot adults too. I posted a few days back about seeing a barefoot husband and wife in a gas station. I would LOVE to find the _MAORI_ woman to complete my barefootin team! Even in liberal parts of US, it's rare if ever to see other adults out and about barefoot. Its so unique and completely awesome that a country as laid back as New Zealand exists.

Cheers, and God bless New Zealand and China!

Maori people have great senses of humour. :) Yes Definitely if you want laid back, NZ is the place to be... i am sure you would find plenty to match that description. but you are more likely to find a barefooted Maori woman in a small town than in the city....

New Zealand has a good hippy commnity, anyway. There are some Maori I have met who are involved in this commnity, so perhap that could also be a possibility.

    I am from New Zealand.

I know what you're talking about, we have going on the same in the spanish world, Mexico is a very good example, that place is sinking badly (people diying in mafia wars, politicans stealing money publicly, people with no education, 53% of the population being poor) and everything because of a culture infected with selfishness and ignorance.

I want to move to new zealand too, looks like a nice place, not perfect but at least barefoot friendly. I hope I'll do it during the next years.

youre dead right, it's crazy all this focus on feet. but it seems it's a serious issue in america and europe too. hence all the forums. forums exist mainly because barefooters are harassed in some way or another by social pressure, more or less, virtually everywhere in public except on the shore and in swimming pools. i understand your point of view, but in your country i bet you never get to be insulted by random people on the streets or searched by the police (for no reason and to no effect) or kicked out of a club by hefty security men because you're barefoot. that's it.

    Hi
Saw this thread on New Zealand and just had to cum in...Im a young mum with two young children living in Auckland, New Zealand and Im a 100% barefooter everywhere, especially in summer which it is now, even in our mild winter I usually go barefoot right.

I am amazed at the fucking hassle Americans get about not wearing shoes, shit I havent worn shoes for four years now, and never had any shit comments or been turned away from anywhere. Both my children are barefoot, eldest is five and he goes to school barefoot along with all the other kids, many of the mothers pick their kids up in barefeet. I go shopping barefoot, go to family restaurants barefoot and never been an issue.
Once or twice I have had older people warn me to be careful off broken glass, I smile and tell them my feet are strong enough, no fucking problems! Today I took my boys to a christmas parade, we were all barefoot, I was in shorts and a crop top, as its so hot now. Many mums were there in barefeet too, so its never an issue.

I think you Americans just analyse things too much, just go barefoot and fucking enjoy it!!!!!!!!
