Seriously.. I can't believe this guy refused to give an interracial couple a marriage lisence. I mean it's hard to believe this denial of a marriage license is even legally possible. This crap is simply unacceptable. Here's the article: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091016/ap_on_re_us/us_interracial_rebuff;_ylt=AnMc44EBJDlc3VVrdBaWMTUZ.3QA;_ylu=X3oDMTJvNDUxN3NjBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMDkxMDE2L3VzX2ludGVycmFjaWFsX3JlYnVmZgRjcG9zAzcEcG9zAzcEc2VjA3luX3RvcF9zdG9yaWVzBHNsawNpbnRlcnJhY2lhbGM- What do you guys think about this??
Well it is Louisiana, the state where David Duke once ran for governor. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying everyone in Louisiana is like that, but once you get outside of New Orleans it's very much the deep south. I think his license should be revoked as an example to others who would discriminate. The civil rights act was passed 45 years ago and sadly some people still resist it.
I don't think it was that the judge denied them a license but instead refused to marry them. The judge said in an interview that he didn't handle licenses.
I don't see the big deal. I'm sure there are plenty of other inferior couples that went to him and have been denied in his many years doing that job. He didn't say they couldn't get married, just that he wouldn't do it. Now we have to hear about this couple - bunch of whiners! People should be worrying about much more important news
News more important then civil rights? Like what? And you really think were all wining? You don't whine over something like that. You don't keep your mouth shut when stuff like that happens because it's wrong.
Some people think rednecks are inferior. So you're from South Boston? I remember the riots in the 70s over blacks being bussed to South Boston schools. It looked like the deep south in the 50s. Buncha racist dickheads, made me embarrassed to be from Massachusetts.
yes, there are much more important news stories out there than this crock of shit story I am from South Boston. and those riots happened all over the city, not just here. the black neighborhoods did the same as the white neighborhoods. and from all the people i've talked to and from all i've read about it, I am unconvinced that it was the right decision to bus students to different neighborhoods.
Ok, with your point of view, do you think it is wrong to be passed over for a job because you dont speak Mezcan when you have lived in America all your life? Even when you are the most qualified for the job, but just because you dont speak Mezcan you are passed over for someone with less qualities that does speak 2 languages?
It's Spanish first of all. And obviously your not the most qualified if your not chosen. What do you mean by more qualified? I'd bet being able to speak both language would be more important then why you feel your more qualified. The manager/interviewer isn't out to get you. It's probably a necessity that you speak Spanish since you live in the SW where you'll come into contact with lots of people who speak Spanish. The reason you wouldn't get hired for that job would most likely be because you can't have someone translate for you/ not be able to handle the job on your own. Why would an employer want that when they could have someone do it on their own.
makes me ashamed to be a human, dogs have more sense than us, they dont care what colour another dog is!
WOW, you really need to get out into the working world if you really think this. This statement of yours really shows that you dont have a clue. You are too young yet to know what is real. May God help you in the future when reality shines on you.
Dude ok then why don't YOU help me. What type of job was it? If you don't mind me asking. And let me guess the interviewer wasn't white? It was a mexican or black wasn't it? God know's that must of pissed you off! You act as if white is the minority in this country, it isn't. How long ago was this interview anyway? Move on. Common sense would tell you that if you didn't get a job because of not knowing a second language that you should at least partially take steps to learn that language. There are people who get passed up for a job everyday, not just you. You said it yourself, you got passed up for the job because you didn't know that second language. The person who did know that language got the job. It's not discrimination.
I call him a racist because he basically admitted he was one, on other thread's. I wasn't just saying that, i'd never assume someone was racist.
Alright I wasn't positive it was to be honest. Thanks for the clear up! May peace and good vibes always be with you!
i can't decide if it is worse that a couple meeting all the requirements for a 'sacred heterosexual union' was denied this triviality, or that one would cower down because a man in a robe denied him something.
Thank you brother! That's exactly what I said! This guy is a racist and is complaining about others being racist/discriminatory (and he's most likely full of shit).
