I have a close friend that claims his intestines are rotting out and that he could die. I've known him for a few years and i know he constantly has diharea, he also drinks all the time...what do you recommend I recommend? keep in mind he is very stubborn...

    thank you,

Sounds good to me. Alcohol wreaks havok on the human body, the liver, the digestive system, other systems and eventually the brain. If he drinks as much as you say, he won't listen to what you say anyway. Alcoholics always find an excuse.

    He needs medical help.

    Blessings.

He surely needs to see a doctor. . . and likely, he won't. You can safely recommend fiber, such as Metamucil capsules. They may help. . . but he still needs to be evaluated.

Sounds like Inflammatory Bowel Disease to me, which alcohol totally fucks up. He needs to go to a doctor, but of course they'll just tell him to stop drinking. Then he'll continue until he has to get part of his intestines removed... then he'll cry about it and drown his sorrows in the bottle.

    ... or something.

Tell him to cut down on drinking and start eating better, its not necessarily a persisting problem.

Fiber is bulk-forming. It is good for both constipation and for diahrrea, though it is only indicated for constipation over the counter.

Bulk forming fiber absorbs some of the extra fluid present, which is causing the runs.

Here is one source. Read "chronic diahrrea.

It sounds to me like Chron's Disease. Two of my friends have it and they are always pooping. Both of them drink a few nights a week and they eat pretty normally but the disease does something to your intestines so that you have diharea all the time. They both take medicine to keep it under control but every so often - they won't go out because of a flare up. Your friend should probably go to the doctor and get it checked out. Hope he feels better.
