Who has one and who doesn't? Almost everyone I know has an iPod. I hate them, personally. I think that they are a total perversion of the way music is listened to. I don't want to carry it all around with me. I just want to sit in a room and listen to the stereo. There is a point where technology advances, but at the price of culture. You don't even have to own a single album to listen to music these days. It scares me a little. How long before music is just released in downloadable form? That might have come across a bit weirdly, but it's just my way of explaining something that's not easy to explain.
I have one that I use for work, when I have to do some minial labour for 4 hours straight... I need to listen to something (at times audiobooks) to make the time go by faster. It ain't an ipod though, it's a cheap ripoff that works just as good, costs 10 times less, has a in-built mic, radio, memo pad, and so on. Gotta love Hong Kong.
i have a cheap mp3 player that looks like a toy...it works i have an extremely eclectic taste in music and bringing 10 cds around with me isn't practical i love music, and it's important for me to have something to isten to
i have one. i only use it when i'm on the train or walking somewhere because it's easier to carry around than a discman and tons of cds.
I have a "No Ipod" policy for my employees. Funny thing is, I've had to buy three of the damn things. It seems that when I tell someone to do something or ask them to get me something for the third time and they can't hear me because they're rockin' it to Chamillionaire, I snatch the device and grind it beneath my heel. That tends to get their attention.
I have an RCA Lyra and I usually just have it around for the noisy ass bus ride to school, whenever the stereo at home is currently in use for some kind of music I'm not crazy about, etc.. Mine was a birthday present, and it's a whole hell of a lot easier, like beatlerific said, than carrying around a ton of cds and a discman etc. And despite the fact I own an mp3 player, all my cds and vinyls still get maximum playage. I prefer actually buying my music in disc/record/tape/whatever form anyhow (and they get uploaded to my mp3 player a lot of the time, the cds), just because... well I mean, there's something about having an album all to yourself, yeah? Plus the artists aren't getting completely ripped off... even if some folks dont know when to put em away, I still think iPods/mp3 players are good to a certain extent.
I own over 300 CD's and 75 records All somehow fit all in my new 80 gig laptop about 43 gigs is soley Music, i make alot of mix of CD's with it, but my portable CD player is burning out and it skips alot and i ride a bike and take the bus and carry alotta of stuff too and from school and work....so im really considerning buying me an IPOD....even though ive been against them for the longest...it just seems easier all i need is the money
FUCK ipods hate the fuckers my mp3 player kicks ass though =D (too bad the screen exploded =/) but yeah Creative Vision:M beautiful 2.5 in LCD screen, nice vivid picture, smooth framerate on the video I miss my screen =( now, I just have an expensive shuffle (you can kinda see the screen a lil though, and I'm gettign good at making the words out =D)
i don't. i don't forsee getting one any time soon. i'm not quite sufficiently familiar with the subject itself (but plenty familiar with what a LOT of people have said about it, so please don't point my at one more of THOSE) to have the slightest idea why i would want one or what i would want one for. on the other had, i suppose if i was going on the road and could only carry so much, it might be nice to take one in my backpace or in my pocket. but then if i was taking a real backpack, why wouldn't i take a real laptap and one of those folding solar arrays to charge its batteries? (something i could actualy run blender and autocad on and be creative with them) =^^= .../\...
I have used mp3s since i started listening to music as ive never had enough money to buy cds, ive always swapped music with freinds via networks/hard drives. This was great untill the big corporations changed the formats and heavily restricted sharing which is my problem. Therefore i would go for a creative which i could drag and drop my music onto without the need for specialist software cloging up my computer. Apart from that i think the ipods are very well designed and the best portable music players.
Ooh, the big evil corporations shut down my downloading! The man won't get off my back... Tough shit. Someone made that music you're downloading, and they deserve compensation for it. Even if it's shitty music. If you don't like it, don't buy it. If you do like it, then pay for it and give the artist some money.
i bought one the first month they came out... the video ones. me and my old best friend had both gotten a job and went out and bought them together. i'm lame..
I was planning getting one 3 months ago but I bought instead a normal-small mp3 player which works fine. My mp3 has 2 G-B.
I got one for X-mas awhile back. I didn't really necessarily want it at the time. 3 months and a DAY after getting it, the trouble began. LCD broke, which was faulty but Apple wouldn't cover it. Also, I don't know how many times the hard drive blew in it. I've just had problems on top of problems with the mo fo. YET I love having an MP3. I have to be listening to music wherever I go and this helps makes it possible, so I really don't give a flying hoot if it's "not cool" and just a "sell out" yadeyadeyade. It has been my saving grace...when it actually works.
KC, I bought some obscure one on EBay, it doesn't even have a brand name on it. Works wonders though... It was on E-bay (4 gb player for like 40$)... but the user's store was closed down because the company moved from Canada to Hong Kong. I'd say e-bay for them cheap ones. My mp3 player saved my life at work today. The Velvet Goldmine Soundtrack, The Velvet Underground, and T-Rex kept me rather happy while picking weeds and sweeeeeepin' the floor.
