Well... depends what you go for I guess! I went with my family to do some charity work in Gambia. Helping set up schools, donating clothes etc. I loved the culture and the people are so friendly but it upset me to see the poverty out there. Go out and see for yourself! Sunshine and pansies to everyone
haha, yeah i've been to cape town and thats pretty cool (not weather) tho thats like one tiny tiny square of africa so can't exacly judge it on that check out me gallery, me have some pics of cape town there!!
it's not 'cool' in the true sense of the word , ie. it's not really trendy or 'with the times' but same as the rhodesian reject guy, i'm from zimbabwe (if you're interested in the history, born there, lived there til i was eleven, zim's always my home etc), and i reckon it's pretty different to the western world but in a cool way. it's like real, and the kids are into real stuff, you won't find a lot of superficial things there. i also think the lifestyle there's pretty balanced, same as in australia actually (this is a pretty cool country as well) so yeah! great place, if you want to visit, i'd recommend botswana, it's probably the most peaceful and safe place to go right now. don't try some of the other southern african countries, they're a bit dangerous at the mo.
pixierose-i pm'd you.... hmmmm i'd also say visit zambia cos thats pretty safe at the mo....avoid zim like the plauge, and SA is pretty cool if you know where to avoid.....
very true you just gotta be careful, not of snakes, wild animals etc (they're usually the least of your worries), but you gotta be careful what you say and where you go bear that in mind, accept local customs, and don't flash money around, and you'll have a very cool time
Africa is beyond cool, it is timeless, classic, and yet current. If it was cool, it could go out of style, and not be in vogue anymore, or go out of fashion. It cannot, so it is classic.
why does everyone think africa is this very poor continent filled with crazy cultured people? im from Nigeria and i think my country ROCKS!! been trendy and all!... oh well!!
I can't speak out of real true Africa experience, I've only been to South Africa twice. But I love Africa, it is really cool. It's made me hate yet appreciate America more than ever. But Africa needs help. War, poverty, AIDS. All issues that need to be dealt with.
Man, Africa is soooo awesome!!!!! I've been to Kenya and Tanzania and it was instantly addicting!!! I love the people and the animals. I visited a Maasai village just outside the Serengetti that had never seen white people. They were amazed at the blond girls' hair!!!
Damn, I am really jealous of the dude who posted before me, I have always wanted to visit a Maasai tribe. UGH! Francine
