Hi all, I've been living in Amsterdam for the last 10 years, and since 2001 I have witnessed as the city, known for it's open society and a policy of tolerance, has been transformed into a commercial police state. Things are getting much worst here with random police searches and the big brother oversight. The Cristian Democrats government is trying to "clean up" the city, commercialize the weed and sex industry, and reverse the policies of tolerance. We still get high daily and even hold off the mushroom ban up till now, but how long is this going to last? MaryJCanna
that sucks. why is that happening? is there anything you do about it? I would guess it still more open than it is here. I hope those reformers lose
The government sucks. The attorney general is an asshole and he is full of hate. Many Dutch can't take it anymore and move to Italy and Spain for good. They antoginise ethic minority groups against each other and use it as an excuse to justify raids, streets sweeps, and constant document control. Now the Dutch "Uw documenten" sounds more and more like "Ihre Papiere" from the Nazi Germany times. MaryJane
DamKring, Hunter's, Grey Area have excellent menus. Greenhouse Effect and Hills Street Blues are good hangouts. Generally, stay away from large commercial coffeeshops like Grasshopper or Bulldog. Try NYC Diesel or Mako Haze from DamKring. MaryJane
Any idea which shops have Jack Herer? That's the #1 bud I'm going to be looking for when I'm there. I doubt you would find the original strength. Sensi Seeds has exclusive rights on the seeds. You can buy the seeds but not the clones to grow commercially. The weed that is labeled Jack Herer in the shops is mostly a mix. You have a better chance of trying the genuine JH around November, since the Sensi enters it at the Cannabis Cup. There are many commercial shops that sell bad generic weed.
I just went out for a drink and a smoke. It's a sad picture in Amsterdam now. Starting July 1st, it's not allowed to smoke tobacco in coffeeshops, unless they are partitioned. It's pure weed only in most of the shops now. The outdoor terraces are packed and the shops are empty. And, there is that 450 anti-tobacco squad to raid restaurants, bars, and coffeeshops. Cannabis are tolerated, but tobacco is close to be banned. Thing are starting to make sense less and less. MaryJane
why don't those christian people who don't like it move somewhere else, it's like if you're christian you don't want to move to either vegas or amsterdam, and these people are in amsterdam, seriously just move anywhere else in the rest of the world and they'd pretty much be fine.. try midwest america..
Erm, the dutch are actually a pretty conservative bunch. Just because certain things are tolerated for common sense reasons doesn't mean people are particularly liberal.. The conservatives are actually in the majority in the Netherlands... I was there a couple of weeks ago visiting friends and wasn't really feeling it in the city to be honest so I went and spent the weekend in Ruigoord... It was a week before the tobacco ban came in so I wonder how that is... Been to 'Dam too many times to count and despite the BS there'll always be certain things that won't ever go away.. Mainly stocked up in Tweede Kamer (same menu as Dampkring but I prefer the atmosphere in TK)- had the Sage & Sour, John Sinclair, NYC Diesel, Amnesia Haze on the weed fronts from there, all good. For the hashes I bought the Rifman Noor, Rifman Scherezade, the Nepalese Pollen and a darker asian variety that I don't remember now- again all nice though the Noor was my personal fav... Also picked up some smokage from Katsu (White Snake) and the Northern Lights 5 X Haze from Rokerij.. WS was so-so, quite tasty. The NL5 X Haze was mindblowing, almost too strong and after about 4 spliffs I was gone...
