Just a crazy theory of mine:

When I get deja-vu I wonder if, for a brief moment, I am thinking like God (ie having infinite knowledge and understanding).

I mean, if you knew everything for 2-3 seconds, it would seem like deja-vu, wouldn't it? Maybe deja-vu is some kind of temporary moment of release from the limitations of our humans minds and a glimpse into the non-linearity of the supernatural world?

Or maybe it's just a defect in our brains.

Naw, it's not a defect. It's just our wiring working not quite as it should. I'm pretty sure there are two therories bout deja vu`. One's that the image from one eye gets to the brain a split second before the image from the other eye, thereby creating the effect that we've already experianced the moment. The other is that a memory is created before the actual moment is registered in our brains, creating the same affect. Fer a while, I held that deja vu` was experiancing the same thing twice, through a rip in the time/space continueum.

It can't be to do with the eyes. I experience deja vu of all my senses, and of my thoughts, too.

The "going straight into memory" theory sounds the most likely.

It may well be that what you describe as deja vu is a kind of intuition coming in. To some extent, it may be connected with some aspect of a higher or hidden reality. As to thinking like God, what makes you think that God thinks?

That is a lead into my theory on deja vu: the nonlinearity of the supernatural world.
Just a theory, mind you, I've got no facts, just thoughts:

The essence of everything is round: spiral, helical, spherical, circular. Demonstrated by celestial bodies, atoms, DNA, light waves, the earth's axial rotation, orbits, rings around planets, wedding rings, a group of people all holding hands, the zodiac, even crop circles and drinking glasses.
Assuming reincarnation, every soul has experiences in many material existences known as lifetimes. The soul travels through these experiences an a continuous spiral path. It spirals up, then back down, passing itself countless times, over and over, and it goes up and down. Each life is separate of itself, yet experienced by the same entity whose karma, although gradually perfecting itself (hopefully), has a repetitious pattern of thought, behavior, consequences, reactions, back to thought.

Deja Vu is "the feeling I've been here before," because it is a brief recognition of a repeated similarity. Not a reproduction of events, but a repetition of the familar cause and effect patterns we've always known.

Didn't mean to be so wordy.
Does it make any sense at all?

It's when parallel realities line up. Like when you and the you
in bizarro world are picking your nose at the same time. It's
also how you lose socks in the dryer.

    Queenannie,

That doesn't make much sense to me. Interesting though!

I think that deja vu poses an interesting question about pre-destiny. How much of our existence is predetermined? Is this really a dream? Who is the dreamer?

    Personally,

I feel that a deja-vu is when you get to a situation that God knew about before you. God knows all and sees the future, we are made like him. It is either a small part of us that is like Him, or possibly even catching His thought. Like the deja-vu is actually Gods mind saying "yeah I knew you'd make it here now"
reaffirmations from God we are where we are supoosed to be in life.

but that's just my crackpot theory- Or is it? Could I have actually read Gods mind on the matter? If it happens again i guess i'll know for sure.L.O.L.
