So I’ve been on this forum all night smoking weed and talking god and acid listening to everything from tool to beatles to bob marley now back to tool and I’m thinking of the whole “what/who is Christ” thing. The conversation started with jesus but a few here agree that pretty much anyone can lead the masses to the light. Most of us I think would agree that lsd is a door to the divine…it opens us to the light. Its like hofmann found the secret portal to heaven-the god experience. so what does that make hofmann? A Christ? More than just a saint…most saints dedicate their life to propagating the faith and knowledge about their ‘christ.’ Hofmann did something different…he found a portal. He’s like the Christopher Columbus of spiritual questing…but he fell upon it….it wasn’t his intention that lsd be a spiritual thing right? Also acid can bring out the dark right...much like lucifer--here to illuminate the darkness....lsd can do both....its totally ying/yang--depends what you need i guess. Is he just an unknowing scientist --or was/is he Christ? If not christ, then what? Can lsd be a christ? Any thoughts?
he was definatly put on this planet for a reason. it wasn't to make the world better, but it was to change the lives of the people who needed them to be changed. at least that's my view on him. and i'm in no way saying that the lsd users have more messed up life than non users, i'm just saying that he changed us so we could see how things really are. if that makes sense.
everyone can be Christ. it's the way you go about loving people, treating everyone equally and teaching that way of life that makes you Christ like. so yes, i think Hoffman was Christ-like... but I think he could have done more to spread the meaning of consciousness, IMO.
wait im confused. i thought albert hofman found lsd? didnt abbie hoffman write steal this book? i have that somewhere. good shit.
this is the funniest thread i've ever read.. are you kidding me lol? there is no christ and there never will be. cherish the beauty in nature, for thats where christ resides.
no i'm not friggin kidding. christ literally means "saviour" and many many claim that lsd has "saved" them from various issues, problems, inner dramas, immorality, dark choices, emotional disturbance etc. does that make lsd a christ? if so what does that make hoffman? what's so fucking funny about this question?
a few sites for ya... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albert_Hofmann http://www.hofmann.org/ http://www.erowid.org/culture/characters/hofmann_albert/hofmann_albert.shtml i hope that is enough evidence for you
i think that albert hofmann played a very important roll but i also think that he couldn’t have done it without people like timothy leary and ram dass. this brings me to a very good point. there is no one savoir. there are many people who work together. there is a great purpose that must be fulfilled and there will never be one person who can achieve what must be done as we evolve as human beings. LSD is a very important part of many peoples lives even if they have never taken the drug before. take the beatles for example - LSD was responsible for helping them create much of their music. so in a way LSD has had a profound effect on millions of people who would never consider taking the drug themselves. LSD is an amazing gift. our modern world needs to wake up and LSD is a part of that process. will there be others like timothy leary and ram dass - i sure hope so,,, LSD needs to be accepted in society - i think that is the next step and i am sure that there will be more than one person to accomplish this. there will be more wonderful people who come to show us the way and they should be respected for who they are but never worshiped or idolized. they are just normal people like you and me who saw a reason to be a part of something bigger. take what you see in them and become something special yourself!
yeah i said hoffman, not hofmann. look at the subject title...theyre referring to abbie hoffman, not albert hofmann...
i think it is fairly obvious that she made a spelling mistake. the picture she has in her sig is of albert hofmann so we can assume she did not mean abbie hoffman - who that is i dont know.
well someone replied to the thread saying something about abbie hoffmann. sorry man like i said i was confused didnt really know. btw look up abbie hoffman if you havent. brilliant dude. btw. i dont think hofmann was christ or anywhere near it. all he did was synthesize lysergic acid. how that constitutes being a god-like figure, i cant fathom.
I read an interesting thing talking about how, LSD doesn't really absorb through skin. Does it? So when hoffman had that 'accidental' dose it was actually, a real, non-chemical induced, mystical experience. Just coincidentally marked by his discovery of LSD. But I don't think of 'Christ' anymore. I think of 'Christ Conciousness'. Which certainly, Hoffman may have been the first of the western social circle who 'got it'. So he may be Christ in the sense he is the first reciever, and therefore, passer-on, of 'Christ Conciousness' of this modern era. But really I think it comes more down to, why call someone Christ? He certainly didn't call himself that. He was just humble about it. I think Alex Grey summed up my personal feelings about Hoffman in this painting titled "St. Albert"
