I've noticed that most of the people are quite hipocritical. You all claim to be "open minded" people but if someone with different beliefs comes up and says something, you instantly go off on them. The major place I see this is in the whol veggie-non veggie type things. If someone likes meat, all power to them. It doesn't mean that you go off on them for doing things differently. People need to understand that bitching at someone about something like not eating meat, isn't gonna make them stop eating it. I'm a veggie but I did it for health reasons. I know me not eating meat isn;t gonna make a huge change in the world. But whatever. I'm probably gonna get yelled at for this to. But thats what i think and i'm standing by it.
well i agree with u 100% except in 1 thing not eating meat isn;t gonna make a huge change in the world. thats where your wrong it does make a huge difference in thre world but otherwise your right and attacking ppl cause of how they eat is wrong
there is a pretty decent mix of hypocrites and true hippies on here. there are many good people on here who try to find the best in things. some people on here just have very short fuses. and others are just like grandpa. they just love to argue. -laina
It's kind of interesting because vegetarians are portrayed as the one's doing the attacking, but 90% of the time it's the other way around. I don't care if people eat meat, it's their (bad ;]) decision. I don't see why meat eaters find a need to shove it down our throats. Anytime I tell people around my town I am a vegetarian, they either try arguing against it or ask a bunch of absurd questions.
Suprisingly, no. I can make big trees fall down, I always know which direction North is, I can talk about the problem's of and solutions to Canada's federal division of powers for hours on end, I can drink 15 beers and still dance a tango, I can name every player on the Canucks and their salary and what they are actually worth. I'm familiar with most major works of literature, I can recite the first page of the Sun Also Rises by memory. And more. I'm quite the bargain. Really, what the hell did you expect? Some idyllic community where everyone sits around talking about their feelings and peace and love and spends all day sucking each other's dicks while telling them how wonderful their opinions are? You're a thirteen year-old thinks-shes-a-hippy girl in a redneck town. Get used to having people think you're wrong. Hell, get used to being wrong. Its going to be happening for a long time.
I don't think I'm a hippy. And yeah, i live in a hick town. I know people thing I'm wrong sometime. I didn't expect this to be a place were people talk about their feelings and shit. I joined this place because i thought that maybe some people actuall had a mind and gave a shit about other people opions. Apparently I was wrong. You shouldn't just assume shit about people you don't even know, asshole.
When was it a rule that ALL hippies are Vegans? This should have been put on the Vegan Forums. However I agree with you on some of what you are saying. My problem is Vegans can all go on and on about how the animals have feelings but from responses I have found most are under the belief that plants have no feelings and it's OK. All I am saying is give the green beings some respect and just GIVE THANKS for that plants life so that they might live etc. ALL THINGS have an energy and are alive....Just give Thanks!
people fear what they don't understand and tend to attack those ideas....people also attack when they feel insecure about themselves, the ol ego boost thing i feel people would be less hypocritcal in general if they only think about what they're saying before they open their mouths - or in this case, preview and actually read their post before they put it on display for the world to see
OFF TOPIC-You going to The Gathering down in Ocala in february? Would love to sit down and chill with ya bro. Peace
Not all of us claimed to be open-minded. I certainly didn't. Maybe that's one of the misconceptions about hippies.
A hypocrite is someone who pretends to possess some moral or ethical principal, that he does not really practice. So, he says one thing, and does another ! To be idealistic in this world is to aspire to a greater vision. We sometimes fall short of our ideals, and often times slide into "hypocrisy". Let's all keep trying to live up to our ideals, or other peoples helpful suggestions, if they ring true. It isn't often easy.!!!!! We can work to make this earth a more inhabitable place to live, it takes us all working together despite our differences. Vegeterians can get self righteous from time to time,( they're just very excited about a diet that works for them ) but I think if a person is healthy eating the food they eat, then I would think it was good for them to continue to do so. I have been a back and forth vegeterian for 30 years, and I just know that I feel better as a vegie, but have no adversion to non-vegeterian cuisine from time to time.( organic is a wise choice) This forum wouldn't be at all interesting if we didn't have different opinions, and some excitable enthusiasm in discussing the pros and cons of our ideas. I like to think that even after some heated debates ( with some forum-questionable language) that many people come away knowing more about themselves, and with this knowledge can change for the better, and be a "plus for the planet".
plannin on it..hoping to for sure back on topic madhatter sweety, dont be all upset spooners just being spooner.. starting shits just his style.. but your right we should all be able tojust get along and respect eachothers opinions but since hes given you no respect you owe him none..however ya gave him more then he dessered , so your 4 sure the better person thats the same for the whole meat/veg issue give em respect and not call em dumb for theyre choices..offer an opinion omly when asked for..and be understanding and open to rational discussion without ressorting to insults respect choices..its great to be strong in conviction and toexpress your opinions strongly, as long as it follows the rules of respect
:toetap: No it's not just you, it's the veggie forum huh? Well it's in the Christian forum, the Protest forum and currently in the Women's Issue forum as well. People around here are into advocacy and aren't very tolerant of adverse opinions. Bustramp
