I've decided never to drive again. I just want to know if it's possible or not. Because if it is i'm buying a buss pass and getting a few new friends with cars.

I'm the friend with a car to most of my friends. :(

Move here n I'll drive you around too. ;)

I HATE driving. Hate highways. Hate other drivers....

    Blah blah blah.

But without driving I wouldn't go many places...

(oh and to answer your question, it depends where you live)

I live in an area where you pretty much have to drive. Not many sidewalks. I guess I could risk getting runover...it would make me semi-sorta-not really-hardcore I guess:). I was on a vacation the other day and the car had broken down so we had to take a cab everywhere and I got a ride from this nice woman my mother and I had been talking to. All I had to do was ask to.

Not where i live in Houston its the biggest american city when it comes to area. it takes 45 min. to get anywhere and it takes 1hr. 30min. to go from the suburbs on the SE to the SW suburbs and it would take me 1hr. 45min. for that drive. i hear people on the north side are different like its another city.

You don't really need to move to the city to not drive, sure it would be easier, but there's always public transit or really other ways.. Sometimes sitting there in traffic I really just want to step out of my car and never return...

It possible. It easier in some areas..

I don't drive- but my hubby does, I live near fam and friends that do. It isn't too difficult because of that.
It was much easier when we lived more in the city and we COULD walk, or ride bikes places.

Do what I don't: Organise, prioritise, and enjoy walking long distances.

How far is the furthest you usually have to travel during the week?

I got my mummy to teach me about 5 years ago...

My closest friends who would actually give me rides all don't drive or don't have cars and I don't have much family around. My permit expires like a month from tomorrow i'm not even going to bother renewing it...guess I need a good pair of walking shoes.:D

    I sold my car.

I was looking into buying a new one, and they were offering me 20% interest deals on used cars to buy with $4 gas and I was looking at the costs and I thought hmmm?

    So, bought one of these.

    .
I love it. It's really popular too. When I say $1,000 and 70 miles a gallon people immediately think it's awesome.

    Fuel efficients the new sexy.

Well to do anything interesting I either have to walk to Aiken or Georgia. I guess I could get rides for those things though. The farthest in this town I would say a few miles maybe. I don't really know where half of anything is really. I feel off my bike cracked my head on the curb when I was like five and haven't been on one since...

I'm going to get an electric bike.
    No licence required.
Do you need a licence for that, lode?

I'm almost positive you need a license to drive one of those things.

Mmm, I guess it is difficult if you don't have much going on where you live.
It is difficult to just get up an go.
    Something a car affords you.
Maybe before your licence expires, try it out.
Then if you can't manage, atleast you know you tried.

"The probability that we may fail in the struggle ought not to deter us ... and second, the failure gives you the opportunity to try a new approach."
