A friend of mine recently got some clay- NAS modelling clay or something like that, it's terracotta. Also air dried (no glaze or coating or anything). We got some decent pipes out of it, and I made a chilllum that I'd like to use. Only problem is, I couldn't find ingredients on the package. As far as I know it's 100% terracotta clay, does anyone know exactly what's in this stuff? Also, is it okay to smoke out of?
see if you can find a crafts store and ask if they have a kiln and see if theyll do it for you tell them its for tobbacco
I'd be pretty nervous to use an unfired clay piece, especially modeling clay, they sometimes put strange stuff in that. I would say find out what's in it, and get it fired, or don't use it. Even if there's nothing bad in the clay, you don't want to inhale dry clay dust. Good luck! edit: it would be best to glaze it with a lead free, food safe glaze.
