Is there anything anymore in this World that can shock you? Make you feel uncomfortable? I mean, there's a black market for organs, they sell kids, you have Elvis sweat on ebay, ect... What would you find incredibly shocking in this World???
I was sorta shocked yesterday. My 5 year old is learning about divorce in Kindergarten. He came home and was talking about it at the dinner table. My husband and I had to reassure him we are not going to live in seperate houses and that his family has a strong foundation. He's only 5. Why are they not learning about finger painting and the alphabet?
ehm, interesting question.. i guess something like that is absolutely, but what..? if i would know it, it couldn't shock me then, so..
Peanuts, if something can shock me - I can't find it at this time - but yeah, it's crazy the way kids (have to?) grow up fast. I imagine we'll be hearing a girl who's pregnant soon and isn't ten years old - only one digit...
There are children in my son's kindergarten class from single parent families. It is important these days for kids to know that there are many different kinds of families, and no one is wrong or inferior. If it was brought up, the kids may have questions.
i saw a fokin huge spider web just earlier today, must have been like 5 feet wide, didnt see it until i was like one foot away, no spider to be seen, i said holy shit pretty loud in my backyard though...
You are right and that is exactly what my husband says. We should be talking to our children about how there are different kinds of families but in Kindergarten? I don't know. I didn't grow up in a broken home. I guess I forget how many of them are out there. As a parent I want to protect my child from certain things. The way things are today are so different from when I was in school. There is so much more free will today than there was 15 years ago. Children are much more defiant nowadays. Here was a shocker for me this past Spring. I saw 3 children in a week hit their mothers. They are 3 & 4 year old lil' people hitting their mothers. If I could of spit fire I would of. The day my child hits me will be the day he wishes he had a chance to re-think his actions.
hitting their parents...that wouldn't have gone to well for me.... The last time I was shocked was when i went to get into my old apartment building at around 2 am and heard a hissing sound...I looked down and there was a rat with fur missing and nasty growths all over it about 2 feet away from me...and it wasn't running away no matter what I did.......
ewww seamonster. He probably wanted you to help him. Poor yucky thing. Right, if I had hit my mother my dad would of broke my arm. I don't know why I get so shocked about these kinds of things. Maybe my world is more secluded than it should be but I really don't want to surround myself with some of these shockers. Shit..The penis and booby club thread shocked me on Friday. (such a small world I live in)
Don't you live (or used to live) in Alabama? That place is full of evil shocking things. As long as you know where to look
About ten years ago I was actually visiting Florida with some friends and we decided to go mushroom harvesting out in the cow pastures. They have these spiders down here called banana spiders - their bodies are like 3 inches long, black orange and yellow with legs that extend out another couple inches, scary sons of bitches. Well these things spin webs between trees like 30 feet apart. I can remember having my eyes fixed on the ground looking for shrooms and walked right into one with the spider only a few feet away from me. nothing scares me more than spiders - man did I scream and run. All was good though when we got home and made a nice batch of tea.
Snakes shock me or scare me rather. I can see a snake on TV and have a horrible nightmare about them. I can't stand them. Worst damn feeling of fear.
Nothing really shocks me anymore unless it happens in my own circle of friends and family. For example, I hear about incest all the time, but last year I found out an old friend of the family's was sleeping with his mother. That was a shocker. Things are more surprising when they happen closer to home.
Shock is all over the place. Tell me you weren't shocked on 9/11? One of my old friends from highschool died two weeks ago....motorcycle accident....that was a shock..... Another friend of mine got in an accident on an ATV this summer, was throw a good 30 feet, wasn't injured except for scrapes, but an when he got back to the cabin, he started feeling dizzy and had to go lay down....a mild form of SHOCK.
