After dosing on lsd several dozen times in my life, and other psychedelics I began thinking up philosophies. One of the philosophies was that "time" is human made intervals of change If you were to travel faster than the speed of light, the theory is you would be hitting previous light, thus going back in time...really you would just be perceiving change differently. The scientific term "time/space continuum" is bullshit its "space/change continuum"
Yes time is a man made concept not an external force, thats why time sometimes goes slow and sometimes goes quick, although I'm no expert on the matter this is how I see it!
As I understand it, you are right. Time, in our Newtonian world--the world of our five senses--is an abstract concept, not a real thing in and of itself. The concept of time is orchestrated by perception, memory and imagination. In other words, the concept of time is built on other concepts such as present, past and future, respectively. In the Newtonian world what is actually physically happening is the progression of events. Physically speaking, the cause of the progression of events is fundamentally motivated by forces such as gravity, electromagnetism, etc. causing things to move. However, in the quantum world time is a real object. It is actually malleable.
Time is real because we experience it. The way we measure time however is a man made concept. If you leave a banana out in the sun for a couple of days it will turn brown but time didnt change the banana, rather it was heat and oxygen, or any other factor which may have contributed to it. Time and change work together to create an outcome. Time may not be tangible but it is still happening. As far as the time travel idea goes, as i can recall, it is believed that you could see the past, not be able to go back in time. Nothing is changing. I believe there is a difference. Time passes. Things change. As far a LSD goes, my mind has been so fast on LSD that i have been able to exist in the time between seconds and sustain this for quite some "time". I could tell because the music paused on a single note for several in depth thoughts (it seemed like it was about 10 minutes or so) before continuing with the song as if nothing had happened. Did my mind think as fast as the speed of light? faster? I dont know but any change in myself during that timelessness happened without the passing of time, therefore i cant believe that time is change. There was no time but there was change in myself. Dont get too hung up over the English language. Time is a word that represents an abstract idea, it is not concrete.
Time is real in the same way a mile is real, they're both a unit of measurement of some kind of movement, but an arbitrary one at that
cosmic time is kept by determining how long it takes a quantum particle to change and change back (like 1 and 0s on a computer). basically meaning thats how god keeps time, its the quantum tick. time is real because we can travel out of time, to a place where there is no tick, into enternity.
yes, I agree. time is simply a measurement of change, and change and impermanence is the nature of all things that are.
everything is always so much weirder then it seems. who is willing to start teaching "following down the rabbit hole 101"?
no sir not everything is real.. Where it began..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heKgZ6qP4S8&feature=related to believe it never would.
The real question here is: does it matter? Questions like these only lead to more questions. You'll drive yourself crazy trying to answer them. But to answer your question, yes it is real. But it's also complete bullshit.
Sometimes on LSD it's almost as though I can feel each quark in my body traversing through some energetic flow causing them to slowly change. Like I can feel time flowing through me and it's making its mark apparent by microscopic cellular changes. But this flow of time, it is spatial and it intersects our body on way more than four dimensions. The energy flow that is time is one of the weirdest energy flows we perceive I think. Which with that, does time exist? Yes time exists as a flow of energy. But our measurements don't take into account it is spatial, can overlap, can intersect and interject our reality in non-linear ways, can fold and exist side by side. Time is a very maleable thing. The straight civilized world collectively manifests a linear time flow through unconscious will in order to get it to match their clocks, otherwise they'd be freaking out over all the new variables they must take into account about reality if they broke their linear time flow. But the further you get away from that, the more time reveals it's spatial, multi-dimensional, non-linear nature.
i think times a man made concept to record the changes of the seasons and the cyles of the sun and moon. it cant be anything more than that as who suddenly has the power to say....times different today we've just gained one hour, daylight saving.....pffft! it's the best example i can think of that its just a concept for us to have enough daylight to get everything done.
