Bush and talk about renewing the controversial USA Patriot Act,” writes Doug Thompson for Capitol Hill Blue. “GOP leaders told Bush that his hardcore push to renew the more onerous provisions of the act could further alienate conservatives still mad at the President from his botched attempt to nominate White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court.” Thompson reports the following exchange:

“I don’t give a goddamn,” Bush retorted. “I’m the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way.”

“Mr. President,” one aide in the meeting said. “There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution.”

“Stop throwing the Constitution in my face,” Bush screamed back. “It’s just a goddamned piece of paper!”

I have to admit, the comments allegedly made by Bush match his actions since becoming President.

 

Do please substantiate your assertion that Capitol Hill Blue, a well known and respected watchdog in D.C., is a "crackpot source".

 

The fact that anyone would keep reading after a headline like that is evidence of an impaired sense of reality.

 

Hardly PB, given that the term "New World Order" has been repeatedly evoked not only by Bush Sr, but by numerous influential powerbrokers with this cabals constellation of political enablers, its a quite legitimate reference as applied in the headline.

Only head in the sanders and complacent excuse makers like yourself continue to sneer and deride whilst our founding principles, our nation and international law continues to be undermined by a corrupt "talking points" brigade of nondemocratically elected ideologues.

Im sure you lose no sleep over that since you care neither for our nation or its future standing in the world so long as the selectively crafted economic figures sound good. Apologists for colonialist policies never have wieghed the costs or long term consequences of their positions though, so nothing new there.

 

Ture or not, the fact remains that our constitutional rights are being stripped from us via The Patriot Act and other new laws being/been passed since 9/11. Bush said in Sept. 2001 that they hate us for our freedoms, but yet are freedoms are the first thing this admin is passing laws to take away.

Newsflash, bright boy, the controlling interests of the handful of corporate media/press empires that comprise US mainstream "news" are far too busy cozying up to the establishment to ensure they keep their White House access from being revoked by Team Rove to publish something quite so self-incriminating as the cited outburst by W.

If you paid more than casual attention to the presumption of unaccountability which has characterised this administration since the start of their two unelected terms, such statments would come as no surprise, and quite possibly as a frighteningly consistent betrayal of our entire system of governance.

Keep telling yourself its all a "liberal" plot (as if the current ruling cabal has exemplified conservativism in any legitimate fashion) rather than an expose of the very mindset which has brought us the Patriot Act and complete self-justifying disregard for international law. Civic duty is only an option for you, obviously, when sexual indiscretion is concerned.

Not only would a legitamate news source at least question a reporter who heard that, but a reporter who didn't hear that but heard that from anonymous sources.

And then he narrates it as if he were there. anonymous sources are important in journalism, but not for printing hearsay, narrating it, and using it as the thesis for an article which you use for political ideology.

Given the unconfirmed nonsense regularly posted as supposed fact, out of all keeping with well recognised practices and positions of this admin, this the simply another case of the sheep bleating "foul play" for exposing harsh reality.
