It was forty years ago today,
Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play
They've been going in and out of style
But they're guaranteed to raise a smile.
So may I introduce to you
The act you've known for all these years,
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Wow is right, I was only 15 when that album came out. I bought it immediately, and listened to it a million times.

I just remembered that it was only a couple years earlier I bought Beatle cards (with gum), and had a John Lennon doll-type figurine. Oh my gosh ! I also watched the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Hey Mr.Franklin, so you're hip to the Beatles and Srgt. Pepper, huh? Ever really listened to "within you/without you" on that album? Guess what, in that song George Harrison is specifically referring to experiencing the cosmic consciousness that i have been harping on so much about. It seems with so much of the cynicism you voice about the higher spiritual ideals I talk about being Hippie, there seems to be a contradiction in terms here. Y.B.

It was SIXTY years ago today,
Sgt. Pepper taught the band to play...

Wow that really is quite amazing really..Sgt. Peppers 40 years old.

I said "It was sixty years ago today" because the song says "twenty years ago" plus the 40 = 60...

Yes! And by the way, did you notice my reference to the Summer of Love in my, Woodstock and Dead Sea Scroll Connections topic?

Let's make it happen again, but better.

Hey, Yogi Bhear, you made a Boo Boo. Ever listened to "Sexy Sadie"? Do you know who it is about? Guess what? It's about that pervert Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. There are other places to get "higher spiritual ideals" that are a lot less pretentious than what you are shilling on this forum.
