I itch bad everyday. I'm taking Atarax and it used to help but not much anymore. The only thing that helps now it muscle relaxers but I can't take them everyday or I will build up a tolerance.Sometimes at night or when I'm at home if I haven't taken Any muscle relaxers I to drink about 2 or 3 Zimas ( equvienlent to beer)and if I don't itch I have this sensation like a sunburn and a feeling of needle pricks. This is also horrible because it makes me very on edge because when it feels like that I know that anytime I can start itching severely My doctor thought it was stress but I know it's not because it acts up whether if I'm stressed or not. I think its allergies but its so damn bad and goes on all the time, I wonder if it is totally different. Everything else has been ruled out(detergent, food etc..) I'm determined almost to not go for allergy testing because there is always some reason for me to have to go to a doctor, or as soon as I pay off one doctor bill, I have to go to another one. I have had this for 4 years, but now everyday for the past two months. I drives me crazy. I take 10 Attarax a day with not much avail. What would be anyones opinion on this
you mean no one in this forum has this problem ? Out of all the people who post here and out of all the health issues I see and no has this.....must be nice, its a curse
whoops sorry my "puter" said that my post couldn't go through hehe now you see two versions of what I was writing
here's a better example There seems to have been a slight problem with the Hip Forums database. Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser. An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists. We apologise for any inconvenience. yeah but when I pressed the refresh button nothing happened
Hahaha that happened to me last nite....Oh and well you arent alone. I have always been allergic to almost everything....cats, grass, dust, milk, soy, corn, detergent...etc, etc. I am 23 now and No matter how many "sensitve skin soaps, lotions and other crap" I try nothing helps. If I use lotion...i break out...if I dont, I itch....I changed laundry detergents....I still itch...sometimes if I take a shower and dont use soap at all one day...I STILL itch!!!! almost as soon as i get outta the shower! It sucks! Omg im itching just talking about it! haha...I havent been to the doc for it..well only when I was little. I really think part of it is stress...I get really itchy when I get really stressed....I know!....we are allergic to stress!!!
despite detergent not being found to be causing the itching do not use products with sodium lauryl sulphate or sodium laureth sulphate in them if you see lauryl or laureth sulphate tagged onto to any product do not buy it. this stuff is in shampoos, hand moisturisers, toothpaste, engine degreaser etc. it is a product used extensively in animal testing to cause inflammation and itching. i have stopped using it. sometime ago my ex and i ran out of toothpaste without sls in it - we knew we would get some toothpaste without sls in it in the near future and we figured "what would it matter?" and started using the old stuff. in the course of two days we came to the realisation that we were actually itching. my thoughts were this. by brushing with sls we were absorbing it quite effectively into our bloodstream. when we sweated it came out of the pores and onto the skin making us itch. do your self a favour stop using products with sls. you can find toothpastes without sls in the heath food shop or supermarket
I would go and get the allergy tests. There is no reason for you to suffer like this. Shit happens, it isn't your fault, but you do need to treat it. That is a hell of a lot of Attarax. There is probably a better solution, but a good allergist or immunologist or a dermatologist needs to be seen by you.
I used to have that problem when I lived at my parents house.....They had bought a new house in the country with a well. The water was extremely hard, and murder on my skin. I itched constantly, winter was worse. You may have hard water....have you tried using skin cream after showering?
Definately see a good allergist or dematologist. There are TONS of treatment options for this! In fact, I would probably go see BOTH. In the meantime, you could purchase some LMX 4% cream (lidocaine). It is the stongest lidocaine available OTC. It will help to numb the nerve endings in your skin, so you won't feel the itching sensations. It is expensive, though, about $40 for a 1 ounce tube.
