The last job that I worked at every time there was extra slack to be picked up the managers always had me pick it up. Especially when someone would call in sick I would be the first person they would call to fill in that persons shift. Well I quit that job and I have been working for a different company for about a month and a half. In that month and a half my boss has called me at least twice a week to fill in some ones shift when they don't show up or call in. The first couple of times i filled in their shift but the last couple of times I've told her i was busy. Any advice on what i should do?
If your boss is calling you to fill in for others, it's because she thinks you're dependable. Make the extra money as long as the hours aren't too excessive. Once your boss realizes that she really needs you, you can ask for more money. Also, those people that didn't show up or call in probably won't have a job if they make a habit out of it. I'm a supervisor where I work and I know what I'm talking about.
