I've been a fan for many years, the first two seasons in my opinin blow, but from season 3-12, they were the Simpsons we know and love....but from season 13 on, its been on a steady decline....the writers are just not up to the, sadly to say, shock value of today....shows like Family Guy, Aqua Teen..., and South Park, have long since out done the Simpsons....i think they need to focus their energy on Futurama, a great show that allows for a little more "shock" than the Simpsons can today....Futurama is a great show that sadly got cut too soon.....thats my two cents...

Yea, I have started notice the story lines are not as strong anymore. The Simpsons still have alot of shock value, its just not out in the open screaming fuck and shit all the time. They have alot of under the table references!

I dont think they will be back after this season, but then again alot of younger kids watch that show now and what else is on at 8 on Sunday?

Just think about this, all of us that grew up on the Simpsons are starting to become adults, isnt that scary!?

I love the Simpsons :) I hate it when they show the really old ones though, with the bad drawing and the weird "angry homer" voice guy. It's just not as good. I think the show still has some potential, but perhaps it's time to end it before it starts to die slowly and tragically.

How true.. I cant stand watching the old ones

I hate to say it but that might be true :(

Maybe they should redraw the old ones :)

Last week in an "all new" episode, they bought an RV. Ring any bells? It was in the first season.

I think they should do a show where homer gets fired and goes on tour!

    ^^^

I like Futurama, but not to the same extent as Simpsons...Simpsons just has (or at least used to) a certain...I dunno, power or something?

  12. Simpsons should less go towards the shock of it's birth and go more with the references and go more in a monty python\intelligent comedy direction while mantaining the political commentary

Couldn't agree more. They had a really good line of seasons, but lately it's been really crappy.

as much as I love the Simpson's, I also think they need to sit down and write a few really great shows to go out with. It's been running so long that they are on the edge now of being able to end in a high (or at least good) note or running out of good ideas and just using filler humor to keep it going as it fades out and dies.

Lately the shows have been superb, witty, and have made keen observations about society, but the writing has to give soon. We'll see though. I thought the gay marriage and adoption episode were terrific.

I just cant let go. No matter how bad it gets I still will watch. It is my hope that they have a huge send off show.

I think those other shows have nothing on the simpsons. and never will. But I will agree that the shows aren't as good as they used to be. what they need are their old writers back (in body or spirit)

well, the newest ones are starting to get better

The simpsons has turned into one gigantic mulligan after another, I can't stand it any more, I miss Lionel Hutz, phil hartman dying majorly detracted from the show
