I really don't know what the beef was about, but I know Nas ripped Jay-Z apart with "Ether". Jay-Z can't fuck with Nas.

jay z wanted to sell records so he started runnin his mouth off about Nas. Unfortunately it worked and Jay Z is sellin mad records (even tho Nas defiantely won). Jay Z is a corporate whore now and Nas is just chillen on his morals. Nas is king baby haha

Nah, Tupac was, is, and always will be king. Nas is the prince. Maybe just the prince's brother, but he's still hip hop royalty.

1st of all, biggie is dead....and jay z is talkin about him....saying hes better than biggie smalls ect ect.....(even thought he uses ALOT of biggies lyrics)
how the fuck r u gonna talk about som body wile ther in the ground.....thats why jayz is a sellout

secondly "Ether".....was wow....i can easily say ether was a bigger hit than most of jay z's songs....

    (I) Fuck with your soul like ether
(WILL) Teach you the king you know you
(NOT) God's son across the belly
(LOSE) I prove you lost already

those are probly the tightest symbolic lyrics iv ever heard

nas made an example out of jay z....cause i dont think those lyrics were pointed at jay z.......they were pointed at everyone that ever thought they could take the throne fron nas......its plain and simple.....I WILL NOT LOSE....you hear it loud and clear on the song...agin and agin.....

and unless pac faked his death....(doubt it)....i dont think anyone will prove him otherwise

It's funny how every thread that talks about hip-hop royalty, Tupac's name always comes up and there are still nonbelievers. WTF?

those are just the kids that heard a kanye west single....watched a lil mtv(hahah) and proclaimed themselves rap experts.....cause i see so many people who are so sure kanye/mike jones/ying yang twins are the best of all time......
and all i can do is luagh in their faces.......although i respect how kanye west is doin the hole...all about lyrics thing....he needs to try to make a song without a sample 8\......

sorry kanye.....but you saw that coming.......

Actually, I lost a little respect for Kanye recently when I learned he had a ghost-writer write a lot of his lyrics. I hate rappers that don't write for themselves. It doesn't take any talent, at all, to perform someone else's lyrics. It makes him look like a total bitch. Same thing for Eazy when I found out Cube wrote most of his lyrics. A total loss of respect.

wow.....i didnt even know that he had a ghost writer.......eh i didnt really like him in the 1st place....

i can see how its pretty wack to write someone elses shit but ice cube had just joined N.W.A and i guess it was kina a initiation.....if thats wat u wanna call it.....like they were trying to let him prove his talent and took the glory for it......though thats pretty messed up

easy e //dr.dre was bumped down a bit when i heard that cube wrote some of his stuff...but he showed he had some skills too when he came out with "Real Motherfucking G's"......aka...... Motherfuck Dre...Motherfuck Snoop...Motherfuck Death Row.....

but then agin....they gave ice cube the cridit for the lyrics....so they wernt really putting on a front

    but KANYE...ON THE OTHER HAND!!!

A few points to make on this topic. Ether was definitely one of, if not the, best diss ever written, and Nas smashed Jay-Z and ended it early on. Now some people will argue that it continued through 2002 or 2003, whenever 8 mile was released(For those who don't know what I'm talking about check the 8 mile soundtrack Nas and Jay-Z have songs on there). Technically the dissing did continue on, but lets face it, it was won and lost with Ether.

As for Jay Z talking about Biggie:

Jay Z and Biggie were good friends. Hence the lyrics, "And I told my nigga Big I'd be multi before I die". To say that he's surpassed Biggie is a given. He outlived him. Of course he's going to surpass him. But don't construe that as talking shit because there was a lot of love there.

For those who want to know what the fued was about between Jay Z and Nas, I suggest listening to the song Realest Nigga Alive. It'll spell it out straight from the horses mouth.

Oh, and while Nas wrote the nastiest diss alive, Jay Z will go down in history for the best one liner ever heard. (About 50 cent after 50 dissed him), "Im worth about a dolar, what the fuck is 50 cent". So good that 50 even sent him a bottle of champaign with a card that said, "Compliments of 50"

To the person that said tupac is king, I dno about that. He is sick but I would have to say Nas is better. I just dont think you can get better than Nas lyrically. I usually hold pac and big in a different category than other rappers thocuz they have become these romantisized legends of Hip Hop.

all jay does is front and talk shit
he's about nothing lyrically but jewelry and bullshit
and not even a really good lyricist

2 pac can outmatch nas lyricly and day.....what your seeing in nas is the delivery.....nas probly has the most authentic style cause unlike alot of rappers....you cant easily count the bars as hes rapping(most of the time).....
tho its alot more noticeable in 2 pacs songs....2 pacs lyrics are so well put together its rediculous....hes like a preacher man....you cant help but listen when he speaks.....

for every nas hit (lyrics wise, not billboards.....cause then 2 pac would win hands down.....counting or not counting disses) i can give you two pac's

Tupac is definitely the greatest, and it's a tribute to Nas that we're even comparing him to Pac. Not to mention, Tupac pretty much ripped Nas apart on a couple of songs, and Nas didn't even come back with anything, at least not that I know of.

Tomorrow I'm going to sit down and think out the serious lyrical and meaningful hits by Nas. I'd really like to see you produce two lyrical and/or meaningful hits from Pac for each Nas song. I'll even let you dispute some of my picks if you can give good explanation on why.
