so for the most part i've quite. i've bought maybe three packs over the last year, tops. not 100% done, but for all practical purposes. pall malls were always one of my go-to smokes. i like them better than many others with only a few exceptions, and they are a wonderful value in terms of price. i used to buy a pack every two days, then every day, then two packs in one day.....i remember when prices started getting really high, and at least for a while the prices of basics were higher than that of pall malls, even though basics are way less enjoyable AND burn really super quick. when i started smoking pall malls, they were 2.45 a pack. i broke down and bought a pack of smokes today cause i felt like shit and the gloomy weather made me want to smoke. i went for a pack of pall mall filters. 4 dollars a pack! jesus christ. i'm glad i almost never smoke anymore. i can't believe the price of cigarettes is almost double what it was when i started smoking regularly several years ago. damn. well, i think i'm about to go out and have my third of the evening (well fourth, sort of. i smoked two while working, and finished almost all of both of them. then i had a stressful close fighting with the safe and getting out late, and i wanted to light up before i left and just took a few drags then tossed it before getting in the car...didnt even smoke half.....so i sort of consider this the third, even though it will be the fourth lighting....errr....yeah) anyway, i've known they're getting unreasonably pricy for some time now. but i didnt realize HOW bad it was. this is insane! 4 bucks for fucking pall malls?!
i like players lights. but they are pretty hard hitting for a "light" cigarette. i used to like the shorter filters. got me more nicotine per smoke.... to get such a short filter in the US you have to buy marlboro 72s...i dont know of any other domestic brand with such a small filter. i only know where to get canadian cigarettes one or two places around here, and you can only get king sized, which is the typical size in the US. here our bigger cigarettes we call 100s, which come with a larger filter to compensate. i dont know much about all this these days, but i remember when i last visited canada the people showed me their cigarettes were shorter than mine, but also had less filter, so it evened out in terms of nicotine content. the longer "king sized" canadian cigarettes i've purchased since still had a short filter. has to be worse for you...but i still loved players lights. still, dunhills were my favorite, but most expensive of all. i also REALLY liked gauloise and gitanes. also camel milds, which are sold at least some places in europe but nowhere in the US that i know of. i used to buy cartons online from europe so i didnt have to pay taxes. camel milds were among my favorite. all the nicotine of camel filters, but a milder taste, as indicated by the name. a wonderful halfway point between camel filters and camel lights....
also, european pall malls are stronger, but interestingly they have bits of charcoal imbedded in the filter, allegedly to help remove more of the toxic substances present in tobacco smoke.... dont know if it works. they were heavier bodied than american pall malls, but still quite tasty. i liked them though. still, i'm glad that i dont smoke nearly as much anymore. 4 cigarettes today and i cant even think of smoking more. i could live with that. but i know if i keep smoking, it will VERY quickly rise back up to what it used to be..... if i keep buying smokes i know it will be half a pack a day in less than a week. then a pack a day in less than a month. after tomorrow, whatever cigarettes are left will be thrown out and/or given away
if i could find it, believe me, i would have not bought any cigarettes still, beats the prices i pay for cigars. 2-4 bucks for ONE cigar, even purchased in quantities of 20-30 each.... and thats just for decent-good cigars....REALLY fome smokes will cost 10+ dollars each, even when you buy a box (again, 20-30 each, though 20 and 25 are most common...often 24, rarely 30, even less common another number)
or just worse for your wallet! a real smoker still smokes as much as ever when the prices go up. they just pay more for it. addiction is a bitch.... it reminds me of when i discussed really cheap wine with my mother a long while ago. i said if i'm getting cheap wine, i often go with something with more alcohol over something with less. go for more of the standard 11-14% ABV over the 9-10% you see in many cheap blush wines like white zinfandel i said the higher alcohol content at the same price will last me longer because i have to drink less to get the same effect she said no, you drink the same and just get more drunk..... i realize now that it is true. similarly if you're genuinely addicted to smoking cigarettes, when the price goes up you aren't smoking less, you're paying more.... not better for your health, just worse for the wallet! i drink. i'm a drinker. i dont like that too much, but its true. and as a former regular smoker and a current occasional smoker, i realize smokers do what they must to get their fixes, too. higher prices wont make it healthier because they wont make a real smoker smoke less. they'll just make the smoker pay more for their habit!
That just floors me! I can by Cuban Cigars for that price(the first cigar prices you listed). Good god I am spoiled. I smoke cigarettes and cigars occasionally. I just can not believe those prices. That is insane!
$4 is not bad. i pay $8 for marlboro reds and $9 for newports. but I went to florida over spring break and bought a carton of reds for $30
yeah if i ever get un grounded I'll go up to indiana one weekend and buy a few cartons and sell single packs at my school for $6. i''d be richhh.
eh, cuban cigars are good on the whole. if you know what you're looking for and know where to look, you can get equally good nicaraguan, honduran or dominican cigars for less money. its odd....i can find plenty of canadian and european websites willing to ship cubans to the US, but a cheap cuban cigar in such a case is still 5 bucks. for five bucks a piece you can get an equally good cigar from another country in a much larger size i like cubans, but they aren't all there is out there. i want the embargo to end so i can have more selection, but with trademark and copyright laws even if the embargo ended there would be terrible difficulty getting genuine cubans in the US. most cuban brands would be banned from selling their cigars under the current brand name as many nicaraguan, honduran and dominican cigars use the names and logos of famous cuban brands in an effort to gain recognition and sales. many of these brands are great on their own, even though they aren't legitimate cubans. but they would cause cuban brands to find new names under which to sell them, which would be super confusing. such brands include la gloria cubana, montecristo, partagas, bolivar, sancho panza, por larranaga (sp?), hoyo de monterrey, cohiba, romeo y julieta, fonseca, juan lopez, punch, and several others. the dominican, honduran, and/or nicaraguan versions are often very good. occasionally better than the cuban versions. more often you find noncuban cigars with original brand names are as good as or even better than some cuban cigars. some ashtons, some CAOs, some Avos, and some of the fuente cigars are amazing..... you can get a cuban quality cigar for less than 5 bucks in a larger size, if you know what to look for. but again, it all comes down to personal preference and availability. just remember i'm not talkin phillies or white owls or optimos here still....cigarettes are fucking EXPENSIVE compared to when i first started smoking (around six years ago) incidentally my folks are in the UK on vacation now, and are visiting scotland and england. they say they'll bring me back a bottle of nice scotch as a gift. i told them i'd also pay them back should they see it fit to get me a nice cuban or two...in particular i havent tried diplomaticos or cuban bolivars. hopefully i get both. a fine cigar and some scotch is a WONDERFUL combination....a GOOD bottle of scotch and a nice cuban sounds like an AMAZING combination
marlboros and newports are pricier though, even if i think they are inferior compared to pall malls. i would expect to pay a good 6-7 bucks for either of those in ohio at this point in time, but as i haven't bought anything but these pall malls in a LONG time i really cant say. i have two good friends who smoke. one buys cartons of camel filters. the other uses an injector and buys tins of american spirit rolling tobacco i have virtually no point of reference at this period in time
Okay but think about this buy in Kentucky. Sell in Canada. Make the Canadians pay for the cigarettes with that good Canadian weed (BC Bud). Then go back to the US and sell the BC bud in New York or some other place where they pay insane prices for weed. I think I hit the Lotto! To bad I have to much going on right now.
fuck, canadian cigarettes are better, even if they are more pricy. weed is better too, of course. i got a quarter of "just some lousy homegrown" for forty five canadian dollars (back when the exchange rate made the american dollar about 1/3 more valuable than the canadian dollar) and it was fucking great compared to what i usually smoked at the time...so resinous that after half a joint you could barely smoke it anymore without relighting often. too sticky...kept going out! i dont know how good a plan this really is....it would be hard to get canadians to pay for cheap american cigarettes with the best canadian weed! if you could work it out, you still wont likely make much money in the long run. you'll just have good pot!
