does anyone watch it? its pretty funny not as good as safrans music jamboree but none the less more informative on religion etc. its about john safran travelling the world, to try and join a certain religion while taking the piss out of it at the same time. funny stuff.
John Safran is the greatest thing to happen to Australian television in years. Like last night on a re-run of John Safran vs God he tried to join the KKK even though he's a jew, truly great
i totally just heard about that show; watched the last 2 episodes, there were some definitely some good parts. mostly his end rant is the thing worth watching for.... you can catch a few good clips from his website. pretty good stuff.
^Oh come on, the goat killing was one of the best parts. John Safran has something that no one else on australian television has, which is guts! Even though he didnt kill the goat, just remember him trying to auditon was the harlem gospell choir
Remember that stuff with Ray Martin and his bin? How funny was that He's a gutsy thing for sure, doesn't give a crap and does what he believes in.
hey.... so i watched the season finale episode just now, where the christian exorcist bill larson (i think that's his name) in salt lake city exorcised john's "demons" and john lost control and started shrieking and flailing..... good tv man! so what does this mean for john safran vs god? is it gonna turn into a christian evangelist program or what's the scoop?! i was busting a gut laughing when the guy was like, "I WANT YOU TO RENOUNCE THE DEMONS OF ZEN!!"....... wtf; the demons of zen!?? hahaha peace, sophia
wow that final episode was so cool. john couldnt hav entirely been faking it looked so real. what do u guys think?
that's interesting syd..... i haven't heard that but i did read on his site that he was just as surprised as the show's producers (they were saying they'd never seen john behaving like that before) at the way he reacted. i was reading about exorcisms and demon-possession awhile back and about the very intricate methods exorcists employ to convince a "victim" that they are indeed possessed by a demon. a whole group of people working together to communally reinforce and convince a person that they're influenced by a demon is exactly what happened in john safran's case. when the churchgoers yelled louder, he responded by yelling louder. the exorcist gives the "victim" cues as to how to respond appropriately (bob larson saying "you were glad when john started studying zen, weren't you? yes, you were!" "you want to hit me in the face, don't you? well the glory of jesus is protecting me!") so the victim always knows what the "demon" is currently doing. when the exorcist decides that enough's enough and congratulates the 'victim' with hugs and kisses and love the victim too, feels that he's rid of the demon. it's totally crazy. did you ever hear about that woman in new zealand a few years back who was strangled to death by a minister during a botched exorcism? it's like mass hysteria takes over and rational thinking goes straight down the drain. it's exactly like what happens during a riot scene. and i wonder if anybody could hold themselves back from joining in the mob..... clearly john safran couldn't!! haha interested in seeing the follow-up episode. anyone know when the season starts up again? does it just continue on from last week's? peace, sophia
