If the young hippies board was to form a band, what role would you play in it? I'm just curious to see what kind of talents you people have. Is there anyone with a good voice, who could be our lead singer? And of course we can always have back-up singers for people less comfortable with their voices. I think the lead guitarist role has to go to George, I mean, it's his gender for goodness sake! Even if you have little or no musical talent, don't worry, we'll find a role for you in the band. Maybe you get hit the triangle? So how are you going to join together with the band?
I already play harmonica... and organ... and keyboards... and piano... and banjo (I just don't have one right now) and mandolin (don't have that either... but I've managed to master that from fooling around between setting up guitars when I worked at the guitar shop) and I used to play trumpet, trombone, and french horn for three years... then of course, I'm sure you all remember playing recorder in elementary days... I did.... then we also had a violin program in elementary school... and the tuning on mandolins are precisely the same as the violin... it's basically the guitar's tuning of standard on four or eight strings flipped around the other way (Think jimi hendrix)... violin = 4, mandolin 8... mandoin is the 12 string violin except it's not played with a bow and gets an entirely different sound. The violin, to me, is that of a bass... except played with a bow, as a cello is.... if I recall... same thing as an electric bass just different sized and played with a bow... and the upright is the same only can be played with either... they're all tied... ooooh... I remember playing a harpsichord at my old school... I lovveeeeeee harpsichords.
I have also had a stint with drums... I've always been a guitar person though... put combining percussion into acoustic guitar has always just been so awesome... (think tommy emmanuel's version of Classical Gas)
I could play the Tuba, or maybe a trombone. I was actually in a ska band once, for about a week. But all we did when we would practice is sit around and drink beer. Can't say we ever got much done.
I have bongos.... bongos are awesome. Neil Young had a bongo player as percussion in his band the Squires back in the Canadian days if I recall...
well.....i could either be a groupie, dealer, or play like a little guitar in the band. god now i must listen to the who song join together. so great!
I am a pretty good bass player, which makes sense since I'm a quiet dude, and don't post in this forum a ton.
analogue subtractive synthesis minimooooog! I am planning on buying a sitar though, too bad they're so damn expensive for a good one, I gotta fix my damn car first... stupid cars
hmmmm..could I be some kind of assistant, you know? I'll dress people up what I do best probably. Having a style and nice clothes.... That ain't very glorious!hihi! but it *can* sometimes be important! Who know's?
Can I harmonise? Whilst playing a double neck with mandolin and 12-string guitar necks, and adding occassional harmonica chords on my hohner in my harmonica brace? (I enjoy multi-tasking)
