today .......... was the longest day of light this year..... from now it's alllll down-hill. enjoy the light while you can.
i grew up in the frozen north ...i never knew what was wrong , its the disparity in daylength . neer the equator its 12 hrs all yr long dark and lite .its great !!
Thank God, I am so tired of all this damn light all of the time. I can't sleep in the mornings because that damn sun starts shining on me.
I'd rather have short days and long nights, but I do very much enjoy those summer mornings. They are so nice and serene.
mostly i just enjoy the prospect of days getting shorter i really love mystery more then in your face mundaneness i like spring better then fall because it's about beginings and i like beginings better then endings so the prospect of the hours of mystery and shadow getting longer gives me great delight it isn't just that the hot dreary days will be getting shorter (if no less hot and dreary) but that the cool mysterious and wonderfully exotic nights will be getting longer =^^= .../\...
it was the shortest day of the year down here... and it was my birthday too... talk about bein born into a life of misery! now where did i put those sleeping pills.....?
to themnax: If you enjoy spring better than fall, take a journey to Vermont for a week in early October, you may be surprised at how your feelings might change.
I like the night, especially warm summer nights. I have been so tired lately that I sleep through daylight or moonlight.
I'm in a german dance group and they always have a show on the longest day of the year. there are a ton of traditions that have to do with it. They make a bonfire and if a boyfriend/girlfriend jumps over they'll be married or engaged in a year. If a married couple jumps over, the'll either have a kid or the wife will be pregnant within a year. I was out of town, so I couldn't be with my group, (I'm so ticked, it's my fav. show of the year!) but I managed to find a bonfire to jump over!
