I decided to try to grow as an experiment and to see if I could do it. Maybe save some money. I know I will probally have to make alot of changes and have probaly done some stuff wrong. First I got it setup in in an area under the steps with the hot water heater which has a pretty good amount of room. I started with 3 nice green seeds and used soil and pots from flowers at a local garden shop. I put that in a big bin with aluminum foil covering the bin. I got a blue 120 watt plant light. aboue 10 inches from the pts and one 20 hrs of the day. Im also giving them each about 1/2 a small bathroom cup of water each day. Any advice or things I can do better would be great. BTW Im taking this one step at a time and really dont know all the steps so Im really in need of instructions...lol..

    Be careful not to overwater.

120 watt plant light... what's the K (Kelvin) color on the bulb? 2700K? 6400k?

I'm assuming its a fluorescent light/CFL?? If so, 10 inches is too far away, get it within 2 or 3 inches. Make sure you monitor temps.

The best advice is "be sure to get a good book".

Green seeds will germinate but are not as ripe as the brown ones. Have the seeds sprouted yet? When they are young it is easy to kill them with fertilizer and overwatering. Be sure to mix 30% Perlite in with your soil to keep it nice and light. Roots = healthy plants.

Not being sure of what type of bulbs you are using - flos compact or tubes are better and more efficient than the standard ones.

Other than that you may want to start more seeds as it is about a 50/50 male to female ratio for the plants sex.

    Good Luck!

    I agree.....

Also remember weed plants require different nutrients depending on their stage of growth. During vegatative growth stage you need to use nutrients designed for growth. I use Sensi Grow Part A and Part B by Advanced Nutrients, its a two part nutrient.

During Flower stage I use Sensi Bloom Part A and Part B, Big Bud Liquid, and Overdrive all by Advanced Nutrients.

Many new growers make the mistake that one nutrient is all they need like Miricle Grow.

I posted a link to Advanced Nutrients web site below:
