why do people get so worked up over Kurt Cobain? almost everyone has so much to say on this subject, and they seem genuinly pissed off at the guy as though he had personally slighted them.

I had a really lame idea the other night to simply post the full lyrics to Smells Like Teen Spirit as a thread, but then realized I might as well not do it. people would probably get angry.

Yes, and I agree with you about the particular
obession with Kurt Cobain.
Ok, his music was fun to listen to, though
very plain and simple. Still, it's decent if your
into the basic, simple structue of Nirvana's
style of music.
But what is so amazing about him?
His self gratifying, simplistic poetic lyrics?
His scratchy voice (yea, it is ok)
His bar chord guitar playing and cheap, feedback
infested electric solo's?
His insecurity and inability to cope with the
position of being famous?
His whining about life and trying to make
excuses for a heroin addiction?
I dont see the point either, basically, he saved
the world from the infestation of the 80's hair metal
fad, only to be replaced by crappy, depressing,
suicidal emo music that continues to growe
even to this very moment. ~

 

Kurt just seems to touch that teen angst perfectly. Hell, I loved Nirvana when I was 14... then I just got over it, and well... it faded from my life forever.

Kurt is a phase.

i was such a huge music fan. music was varied and and prolific and you could hear so much more. my friends were fun loving, loved by ther families, enjoyed their lives and lived with zest and no prozac. people weren't bummed BEFORE nirvana showed up and started the multimillion dollar corporate driven pity party and prozac push. suddenly ALL the music was a fucking drag and and formerly happy kids are trying to kill themselves. i know what came first. kurt cobain bought into the money and led the charge of whiny assed cry baby music.

Cobain was an amazing singer, songrwriter and guitarist.

Too bad he couldn't handle his fame and took a coward's way out. I disposed of all my Nirvana shit an hour after I heard he'd capped himself. What a fucking whining pussy wastoid.

Somehow Nirvana cleansed Hollywood and Sunset Blvd. of the hordes of hair-metal people and bands that had once plagued the area, so I thank Kurt for that miracle.
