watch the clip , it reminds me a lot of a begger who said he couldnt get a job has he had no place to live and this women i know who runs a pound shop offered him a job and he laughed at her .

years ago i worked in the post office with some illegal immigrants doing 84 hour weeks at night ,and one was from either the gold coast or sierre leone and we got talking about beggers and he said these men if they were in my country we would hit them with a stick and call them damn lazy fellow , why dont people just hit them with a stick .

long gone are the days of the protestant work ethic

the right to no longer work for the barons was born in the sixties and is still prevelent in the benefit society, why should my labour make someone else money

people are lazy it is what has driven our need to invent things, how can I get a machine to do this for me ?

Of course the idle should be encouraged to be otherwise, using sticks or stones or whips or guns is not an honourable approach to the matter though.

I would pick veg for 7 quid an hour. It may be boring, but there are alot of boring jobs that pay less than that:) And no, not all Brits are "Lazy Homers".

wow.. seems its not much different over there than here..
everyone wants something for nothing and everyone hates the foreigners and refuse to do the jobs they do cause they assume they work for low wages when in reality they earn a decent living..

really is a sad sign of the times.. what will they do when there is no more money on the dole to be had? does anyone even care? i know i dont care for the likes of them..

I'd pick veg for a job. My boyfriend did when he was in high school. It's sad how lazy we are all getting these days. £7 and hour picking veg isn't all that bad, it could be a lot worse.

So long as I was allowed to smoke while doing it I'd take 7 quid an hour, definitely at the moment.

Cleaning pub toilets for 7 pounds an hour, maybe, although that WOULD be lucky. More likely 6.25

Fuck yeah.. I get (on average) £10 per patient at the moment, but it's not steady and normally I'll only get £10-£15 in a day.. for £7 an hour I'd deffo pick veg outside.

Typical crappy headline concocted by the Daily Mail.
I remember being accused of being workshy by some imbecile after I finished at one of the supposedly top unis in Britain , and was offered a job putting shit on a conveyor belt for pennies , 35 hrs a week.
Id made a huge number of job applications but Tim Nicebutdim or someone with a "friend of daddy" got the job each time.

Did this fruit picking job actually exist?Nope , itd be filled by a Pole who can take the money home where it goes 6x as far.
And the twit that wrote the article- would he take the job?Ofcourse not!

Unemployment has been deliberately created by economist charlatans since the 1980s to keep inflation down.( a" brainchild" of Keith Joseph - a Thatcher friend)

What a silly country britain is

well if you were on the dole when you could have worked and kept yourself you were being workshy , also you seem confused one minute your saying the job didnt exist the next your saying poles are doing it .
and Id do the job my sister who has a masters degree would do it , rather than being idle or living on handouts .
and you seem to blame other people for not getting a job it could be your attitude , or it could be other applicants were better than you

and lootfish I think being lazy is not a virtue

I went to the jobcentre yesterday and I realised that the impact of immigration, is quite noticable. What with all the closed job opportunities and work trials. The sort of jobs I am looking for, immigrants are looking for. Should I leave the Country, hiding in a crate of Cabbages?

Three years of unemployment. But yes, there are alot of Englishmen/women who would work in the fields for 7 quid an hour. In all honesty, I quite like the American way of working in the fields. You simply stay in a ranch, you have breakfast, lunch and dinner provided, plus the companionship of fellow employees who become like family. Then when you get your 800 dollars, you can go into Town and cash it in. Spend some time in a Cathouse, drinking whisky in some bar and coming back to the ranch for a few games of Poker. During the day, we work the fields, picking barley. The boss riding his white stallion, the sun beating down on our half naked bodies. Some guy goes around with a bucket of drinking water. Then in the evening we all wash ourselves and get some kip.

This sounds a lot like plantation work to me. Boss riding on a white stallion and all. Does this boss beat people with a whip ? I think most of the field hands here are from Mexico. They make there money and take it back to Mexico. I don't think we beat them maybe yell at them but I don't think we can beat them. Is 7 quid an hour like 7 dollars an hour. If so we Americans won't pick anything either, we have Mexican people do it.

    Peace

I was wondering when something like this would surface. Who mentioned bloody whips? Who mentioned Mexicans, who mentioned Mexico? You obviously haven't watched any Steinbeck westerns.

Don't be angry with me JOhn. You said you like the way it works here. Yes the Grapes of wrath was cool poor Okies. Tortilla Flat is also good. Did east of Eden have any horses ? I like Zane Gray. Sorry about the whips it is just part of my life. Whips are a great part of it. Sorry again to have made you angry at me JOhn, I kinda like you.

    Peace
