I used to pass through Leicester on the coach up to Nottingham. I always thought it looked... errrr... interesting! Fly... .
hahahaha i used to live off Narborough road..it was about 10 years ago..it was alright then ...but i hear what your saying its just real bad now... the further you go down( heading for town) the better it gets though ... the bars are alright (try sumo ?? thats if you drink ??? the soft drinks are very pricey). don't walk around on your own ??? well i have been mugged once but thats statisticaly not bad . anyway its not as bad as you think .. but i have to say this i live here.. (and i get a rebate on my council tax for saying so )
uni is amazing! don't be scared! just smile at everyone(except those carrying axe like weapons!) and enjoy the experience! trust me, youll be fine! namaste x x x
Leicester isn't such a bad place. I live about 10 miles away in Loughborough although I've just started at uni in Norwich. I did go to Leicester University for a 2 day science thing (sort of introduction to science at uni) a few years ago and it seemed a nice place. To close to home though, especially as I was just the wrong side of the boundry for getting accomodation, so it would have been over an hours bus ride (3 buses) or 10mins on the train but either a 50min walk or not far of that 2 bus trip from home to Loughborough station. Hope you enjoy it anyway.
are you serious? thats where i live..well western road which comes off narborough..i can kinda understand your comment..my area is so rough! am scared!!!
In my days at uni (and believe me - they were only days......:&) I lived in the one place where people told me not to live! I wasn't there long enough to know if it was bad, but several years later I met a guy who grew up and still lived on the same road I did and he said that there was rarely ever trouble. Bad shit happens everywhere, sometimes it's more concentrated in particular areas other times it's just exaggerated by drama queens! Walk with confidence and you'll be fine!
On my first day at uni I had caught a bus into Norwich to get some stuff, and was in the travel shop getting bus timetables when a man walked in and said something like "its a dangerous place this, you can't even go out in broad daylight without fear of getting attacked", then walked out again. I'll be honest, it creeped me out a little, like a warning or something, and definitely didn't inpire me with the confidence that I had chosen a nice firendly peaceful place to spend the next 4 years of my life. I thinks the same could be said of most plces though these days.
I thought you would be living in the victoria park area ??? well the area you live in is the cheaper student choice i guess... i used to live on Haddenham road not far from that smelly blot on the landscape aka the kfc/blockbuster/wasteland. i am only partly rough
