Because the US dollar is the equivalent to used toilet paper, thanks to the private funny money cartel known as the Federal Reserve, many food manufacturers are resorting to less for equal or more money. You cannot even get a half gallon of ice cream anymore. More and more products are starting to come in smaller and smaller quantities while the prices stay the same or increase. I went to the store today to get some things because I just moved into my new house, and I ended up spending $150 for what would have probably cost far less than $100 less than a decade ago.
Well smaller portion sizes will do people well. If I am stoned I might eat a whole damn half gallon. This way it saves my waste line and my health. Seems like I am getting more with less
Well, if you have the money to spend, then good for you. However, there are some families living on minimum wage that have to pay more and more just to feed their families. I am not one of those people, but there are many people out there that are like that.
Oh rattie, I know your frustration. I feel it too. I feel there are conspiracies working around me too. However, I do my best to find happiness in all the moments I have. Perhaps we will all be slaves one day and under mind control and have no rights....but at least I enjoyed the ride. Anyway, no I can't afford it. Esp since we shop almost exclusively at Whole Foods and that is not exactly a cheap store. The prices suck big cock. However, I was just kidding with you in the post because it made me laugh. Not because it was gonna make you defensive. For the misunderstanding I apologize.
good point. Yummy, I have tomatoes and zucchini and cucumbers and green peppers planted. Sure glad I did that so it will save me a few bucks.
Fuck that. Everytime I go into my local supermarket I have to buy family size packs. Say like I want some potatoes, a bulb of garlic and some onions, I end up having to buy two bulbs of garlic, 20 onions and a 5Kg bag of potatoes!
I don't know what the minimum wage is exactly, but I know it's not enough to live on. Even if the minimum wage was $10 an hour, it still wouldn't be enough for most people to live on in today's economy -- especially people with families. I make $18 an hour (which is not really a lot) and I still have to watch what I spend, and I don't even buy a lot.
ive noticed the packaging getting smaller on things,.. we really dont buy much from the grocery store at all anymore but i do try and keep track of things. from what i gather the prices will continue to steadily climb.. i agree i dont see how folks do it.. our weekly shopping bill tobacco for two of us and whatever household items we need included is about 80 bucks for 3 people.. and we really dont buy anything but coffee, flour, tea, sugar and incidentals for the household such as laundry detergent or toilet paper.. the usual stuff.. you should see how much the cost of animal feed has went up..
Prices sure are goin' up. I just came back from the store, and spent 40$ on what looks like nothing. (I did buy a 10$ piece of brie, but... it's good brie, it's worth it)
You make more than me, dammit. I'm supposed to be the breadwinner. But that's not true. If the standards of living rise, the minimum wage should as well in order to help families benefit from a strong economy. And that's why I'm asking. The minimum wage in the States never caught up. So it was crunch time with all the underpaid jobs out there and rising costs of living. It's no wonder the economy became top heavy after a war. The minimum wage in Ontario is currently at $8.75 - but it will be raised up to $10.25 by 2010. It's trying to get ahead of the curve and catch up with the strengthening dollar and economy that we had 3 years ago when the push for a wage rise was called.
NOOOO. Fucking dalton. What the hell is he doing? and how did I not know about that? Talk about the rich getting richer!
I still want to get down there and see you and dilligaf so much. I fear if I keep postponing though you will feel like I am only coming for safe haven. Do you have anyone staying with you guys yet? I don't know what we spend. Its really a shame watching what is happening in the world around me. At the same time, I see many miracles every day too.
Yeah, the prices have gone way up on stuff since I was a teen. Everything but clothes and TV's. Bigscreens seem much cheaper. But the things you always need...Food costs have probably doubled in a decade.
