I was born in America, thus I consider myself a native American. Still, I know of no biological relationships with Indians/aboriginals/"Native Americans"

Can I still call myself a Native American, while being, you know, poltically correct? Hmmmmmm

Yes, but *I* was born here. America is my *native* country.

Poltically correct or not, I'm going to reference myself as a Native American, because that's what I am.

The word "native" does not mean being born here. It means beloning to these parts ethnically.

Well, native has a variety of meanings, one being mean born of a certain place. So yes, it can mean that.

That's fine. A life without questions is no life at all, at least in my opinion.

Not in the sense in which "Native American" is used.

Just like saying that Lunatics are native to the Moon. Lunatics can be born on earth, but they are still native to the moon.

    See my point?

well some antics are more fun then others. i've seen and participated in, this thread on nation states. i think what i said there still applies here. oh yah, on there i'm the nation of cameroi. a name i barrowed from r.a.lafferty.

at any rate, yes there are two very different things the word has come to be used for and they do create a certain degree of ambiguity. granted nativity means birth, so tecnicly everyone is "native" to wherever they were born.

maybe it's not so obscure if we specify whether we are talking about an individual or a culture. there, clearly native=indiginous. a culture is native, if and only if, its been in the same place for thousands, even tens of thousands of years. something the currently dominant one in north america and perhapse much of the planet, clearly is NOT.

    =^^=
    .../\...

i think that phrase "political correctness" needs to be put in its context of origen too. like the term hippie, it was one invented to domonize and trivialize, in this case, its intended target is the only real morality there has ever been or every will be, that of avoiding the causing of avoidable suffering, not the brainwashing to the contrary of any belief, idiology or media spin.

For the denotive use Pavel, she is a native of the US.

However, the connentation is generally one who is indegenous to whatever location.

The Native Americans weren't indegenous here either, they came here around 14,000 years ago. Their just more indegenous. But it's a silly thing to argue semantics over.

Unless you're trying to get money for college. Then you should be as literal as possible. It wouldn't hold up in court though. :D

She is not an indigenous native of the U.S.

But you're right, neither are they.

All this P.C. shit is complete bullshit.

Goddamn all them wetbacks, indians, and niggers.

Quetzocotal was probably an indegenous native.

I think whatever race grills outside in the winter most is the most native American. Seems to be Texas so far.

    Texas #1 baby!
