Im only one of the mods...but im sure I speak for them all when I say that hate is an absolute NO .....we dont need people who just post in a thread to start an arguement. Yes..its fine to state what you believe, but, know that all people dont think as you do , so if someone dislikes what you say..accept it and move on. This is Hippiedom...we are all about love and peace.
i'm sure flame wars are what you're referring to. those get old, even for the participants. it's probably a mercy to delete them and send people on a time out to end the endless bickering. i've done it enough times to be embarassed, actually. i'm also assuming that posting threads without meaningful titles is out.
Actually a constructive dialogue might be a good way to create and reinforce an understanding of what RT is all about-- to get different views on what is acceptable and to help amend any misconceptions about the purpose of the forum. I have faith that the folks posting here have enough class and decorum not to attack anyone for their views.
lol...was actually was thinking that talking about the guidelines could lead into people "bashing" the mods and the admin. But its all good. but by all means, you got good abs, i mean your the mod bit of advice, even good talk about bans is not allowed so dont even try and do it.
True... bashing the folks putting forth the effort to keep it all orderly is counterproductive as is discussing bans/the banned. One thing the temporary closure did for me was to get me to peruse more in the other forums. As a result I have a couple extra ones added to my favorites. I think it's a good idea for folks to go through the other forums just to get a sense of what's going on and to kick in to the other discussions. It can be very enlightening.
I say a-men to this, It's ok for people to disagree on things we all have our own opinion. Good healthy debate is fine, we just need to keep everything civil and show respect to others rights. :sunglasse
I agree whole heartedly, we need to remember that there is more to the hipforums than just Random Thoughts, we need to spread out and expand our minds more. :sunglasse
Yeah thread titles is one.... and with what erzebet was saying- its really all about respect. It's often not what you say but how you say it. Also, please keep in mind that to a certain extent certain subjects should be put in other forums- example, music and movies.
And hopefully with a new wave of mods, there will be some order here, I would hate to see it go away again...
Try http://www.hipforums.com/forumguidelines.htm Then go to "Site Announcemnets" for additions. Proper thread titles, no links in your sig or anywhere else where it will be seen every time you post ect. Check Site Announcements regularly. Not a big deal to do, actually. You have more than 4,000 posts and haven't read the Guidlines? LOL! You must have a lot of common sense.
