Listening to Music.

I've recently found out that not that many people actually listen to music...

I mean, sitting down with a friend or two, and putting on an album without disctractions.


people just don't listen to music anymore... i know of a select few who actually appreciate music for what it is.


Peopl just turn on the radio when they're in their cars, or at a party.

Some people listen to the hit songs of a band and judge if they like the band or not.



One example that really pisses me off, this guy says he's a Pink Floyd fan, and i ask him his favorite PF album,
he fucking says The Wall, (kinda harsh compared to other albums IMO),
i then ask him to name 3 other albums, all he managed was Piper at the Gates and DSOTM.






can you put on an album with no distractions and just listen?

 

I love just listening to music, especially while on drugs.
the only problem is that usually I'm just chilling on my bed while listening and I'll sometimes just fall asleep, which kind of ruins it

 

meh, the answer is no.

i don't have time.

i get annoyed.

music while high isn't really that fantastic to me, maybe because my taste is more dark and it kind of just ruins it.

no one is comprable to the mars volta, not really worth it.

 

there is just something so satasfying about sitting back with a bowl, putting on a good album, turning up the stereo and letting the music flow through you...


just forgeting everything and getting absorbed by the music.

what kind of dark? i definitely get moments where some stuff is too 'heavy' (conceptually, thematically, or aesthetically) for my stoned mind, but there are other times where the sinister shit really hits the spot

I love sitting back on friday night in front of my computer with my bubbler in hand, smoking while listening to an entire album, and when the album ends that's when I smoke another bowl. kind of like a smoking game I suppose.

 

It pisses me off when you haveto know names of albums or bullshit like that to enjoy music. Fucker.

Im a floyd fan, the only album I could tell you is the wall. Couldnt tell you their names either. So what? I still love their music.

I don't just sit down and do nothing but listen to music. If I'm on some crazy drug like DXM I usually don't listen to music, I'm too far gone to concentrate on anything if I'm even conscious. If I'm stoned I'll put an album on just for noise that sounds good, if I'm drunk I'll just put it on to rock out. I listen to it while riding my bike for the enjoyment of sound, unless I'm so fucked up that if I heard music I'd be unable to focus on the road. I sleep with it on because I don't like silence.

I guess I don't just listen to music for the sake of music. Maybe I need new tunes, maybe I'm just a multitasker.

 

music is very important to me and im a bit of an audiophile, hard not to be when nearly everything in your town is based or revolves around music. Whenever im at home i have music on which is a lot so i dont know why you think people dont just listen to music...i cant imagine not listening to music...what else would you be listening to

 

The best way to listen to music is lying down, on your bed, in pitch black, with headphones- free from all visual and physical and other distractions.

For me that is the only way to listen to music.

It really annoys me when I see people talking and having conversations with their ipod on, and they take out one earbud/speaker out of their ears to talk/listen.

 

i dont have headphones, prefer open music

Yeah I listen to music when I'm home as well. but do you JUST listen to music and do nothing else?

 

Really? I don't know. I have to listen to music with no distractions at least once a day... if I didn't do this I would probably go insane.

 

Lots of people still really listen to music! I know what you mean though, when you're just chilling with friends it's pretty common that there are some that don't have the patience/mood to just listen to the music.
I'm quite happy to have some friends that like to listen to music when toking and enjoy the same music overall :biggrin: . I've got the feeling that also a lot of the time people aren't listening to the music because they just don't have the same taste and thus don't enjoy it as much

Although in my group of friends I'm the only one who really listens to Thrash Metal. The other guys still love Sabbath and all the shit like that but they don't like Old Metallica, Slayer, and Testament.

My fucking other friend always thinks he has such an old school taste in music. Fucking idiot puts on Def Leppard and thinks he's kind shit. I told him my music would murder his.... Then decapitate the body.. It's funny because it's true.
