live 8 - a new music generation

great to see old skool strummin with new school. i was introduced to some sound bands ........scissor scissors " kaiser chiefs" razorlight " keith urban " as well as the old skoolers..........who " annie lennox " floyd " bon jovi " slash " ub 40 " ........ect ect .........yes live 8 .............make poverty history.is right

 

I read an article on the Live 8 shows the other day... It claimed that Britain had forgotten how to rock... Could this be true?

I think the statement was based on the fact that acts like Robbie Williams only had to point and pose to have the crowd go into a frenzy, whilst The Who and Velvet Revolver and other of the 'rock' acts didn't come over nearly as well on a large scale.. Some only gaining a luke-warm response.

That wasn't my opinion by the way, was just an article I read somewhere...

Although... I do feel very out of touch with the kids these days.

Apparently, MTV coverage of Pink Floyd was crap. During their set, they cut to the crowd and had people talking about why the Pink Floyd reunion was so long awaited, rather than actually letting people listen to the music.

yeah dude...the MTV/VH1 people only showed half of Comfortably Numb and talked during Gilmour's solo...it was stupid...so i watched online and it was really great...and for anyone who says britian has forgotten how to rock, listen to the crap most american pop music musicians put out now...english music kicks supreme arse even today...and i was just so glad to see Geldof doing stuff again

 

Live8 had a killer setlist, I downloaded the full Floyd performance so it wasn't cut out or anything. The group hug at the end was my desktop for a few weeks.

 

just wondering if anybody saw ....KEITH URBAN ..........on the philly stage ?first time ever heard him " thought ........man cool ........lyrics and acoustic / elecky guitar playin..........awesome ..... .bought his album soon after ( sound ).

i recorded live 8 and fast forwarded all the shitty ones i thort pink floyd were gr8 n yeh i hated the way they sorta didnt giv them the chance even tho it was the hugest thing goin on there

my mate tom went to live 8 and got one of those well annoying foam fingers which he took to REM the week after and stood in front of me nearly the whole night.grrrr!
