http://liveearth.msn.com/concerts Anyone off to this on Saturday? I was just offered free tickets and METALLICA are going to be there, so I couldn't possibly refuse!
Nice one First I heard about it was on this evening's news. Al Gore was being questioned about his 20 foot tidal wave theory. Some skillful backpeddeling later he was wished all the best for the event. I'll not be going
Suppose it will be fun, hope you enjoy it anyway Nay. Did get a glimpse of the Diana thing whilst my ladies watched it, y'know I couldn't be doing with all those seats.
I thought the sound quality at the Diana concert was pretty bad too. Most people sounded flat and out of tune to me. I enjoyed Kanye West's medly
Didn't watch any o it. To be honest, I don't really give a fuck what the show is like. IT WAS FREE and METALLICA are going to be there.
I've been watching since last night! It's GREAT! I'm watching the Aussie feed right now. John Butler Trio is excellent! Got to see them in Oz. They've got RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS COMING ON NOW. Crowded House, Jack Johnson and others, COMING UP SOON and that is ONLY the OZ feed. You can chose from 9 feeds right here, right now! MAKE SURE YOU SCROLL TO THE RIGHT TO SEE THE REST OF THE FEEDS FROM THE US & BRITAIN IT'S LOOKING TO BE PERHAPS THE BEST LIVE EVENT EVER! Move over Woodstock! http://liveearth.msn.com/
its making the education a party... learning and having fun... ultimately its releasing our inner joy that will heal our world
I understand it is about making the ''education a party'' and ''learning and having fun'' - i'm just concerned people are so interested in who is playing. MMMM so ''inner joy'' will ''heal our world'' - wish that was true.
if folks are singing about love and the enviroment, there will be some "contact high" to others who this isn't their first priority... while this event will help magnetize those who feel deeply committed to this understanding, its focus is as well to bring others on board. let's see what fluoresent light bulb sales are in the next week
inner joy will help the envoroment.....k I mean those kids at the show will listen to the music, throw their trash on the ground, and whatever, thats not the point the fact that a crowd shows up, and people on the other side of teh world are talking about it on the internet, proves its already accomplished its goal, its raising teh issue a,d raising awarness.... and fuck yeah there making money on it. no one ever said thats going to stop.
the idea isn't to decide whether this event was successful or not its about you waking up and changing a lightbulb
Well I did a while ago. I just wondered why a lot of people were concerned about who played - will it be bigger than woodstock and all that crap - who cares. There are many threads about it now - just this was one of the first and it seemed a tad superficial.
To be honest. I actually found the entire thing to be a bit of a farce. Sure, some of the bands were fantastic etc. However, when I got there...I didn't see a single recycling bin. The food and drinks weren't local produce. The electricity wasn't generated by reuseable energy or whatever. Just seemed like a big concert to me.
That is EXACTLY what I thought too! This seemed to me as just an excuse to have a big party. And while it was a good party, I don't think it was carried out in a global warming-friendly way. Although it may very well have made a great impact. My younger brother (almost 15) stayed up to watch almost the entire show. He now seems to be very aware of how much energy and water he uses. He's timing his showers, turning off lights when he leaves a room and is encouraging the rest of the family to do likewise. He's very proud of the little tips he's picked up on and I'm glad to see that. I'm also learning new things as he shares them. I recently wrote a thesis paper about international Water Crises. Since then, I've been making an effort to cut back on my own ecological footprint when it comes to water consumption. Even though we live around the Great Lakes, I am a firm believer of a little bit of effort on many peoples' parts going a long way... Which is ironically just what LiveEarth seems to have been intended for.
