http://liveearth.msn.com/concerts Anyone off to this on Saturday? I was just offered free tickets and METALLICA are going to be there, so I couldn't possibly refuse!
Nice one First I heard about it was on this evening's news. Al Gore was being questioned about his 20 foot tidal wave theory. Some skillful backpeddeling later he was wished all the best for the event. I'll not be going
Suppose it will be fun, hope you enjoy it anyway Nay. Did get a glimpse of the Diana thing whilst my ladies watched it, y'know I couldn't be doing with all those seats.
I thought the sound quality at the Diana concert was pretty bad too. Most people sounded flat and out of tune to me. I enjoyed Kanye West's medly
Didn't watch any o it. To be honest, I don't really give a fuck what the show is like. IT WAS FREE and METALLICA are going to be there.

I am recording the event so I can watch it tonight with a bunch of friends. I am excited though there are some really great bands plain.
Crowded House just finished. They were great as usual. Now I have to decide... Angelique Kidjo or Foo Fighters... Decisions, decisions! This is fucking great!
You know... its a strange idea, a concert to save the earth in which there will be hundreds of private jets flying and millions of dollars of electrical equipment running at all times, seems kinda, bad for the planet? David Gilmour's only political enthusiasm lies in saving the planet, and he declined attendance. Logic falls here... this just seems like extra publicity for celebrities. Definitely going to check out a few performances, though.
Oh, right. Oooooh looky Jessica Alba! After looking over the list the only one that would interest me seems like Roger Waters... seen him twice in concert already hopefully he'll pull something else out besides Darkside and Sheep... Bastards said that Yes might play, and they aren't.
Well obviously it's not "good" for the environment directly, in the short term...But this is actually turning a lot of people onto this issue for the first time. And ohh yeah, IT'S ALREADY BETTER THEN WOODSTOCK. Because this is actually bringing people together through the power of music to fight for a real cause and bring attention to a real issue, not just "wohooo lets get really fucked up and do nothing...MAN!!!"
Gah i'm fed up of all these celebrities saying that it's ok that they are travelling private airplanes because they're going to offset their carbon emissions by planting loads of trees.
So what? They travel like that all the time. At least this event has made them ALL aware of how fucked up their lifestyles are to the environment. Before they didn't give it a thought. Not every artist has a private plane btw, not even close. Quit regurgitating MEDIA PROPAGANDA about this event, which the world's media esp. print media has conspired to boycott or attack rather than deal with the ISSUES the event is about. As I mentioned elsewhere, they entertained AN ENTIRE PLANET yesterday, on a per capita basis they probably SAVED a million trees compared to other things those millions of viewers could've been doing instead of watching a concert on a Saturday on TV or the Internet. BTW, this is a MUSIC forum, not a politics forum. We are discussing the MUSIC performed there in this thread. You want to talk about the politics, go to that forum.
