I am engaged to be married to a Loiacano and would like to know how the name would be pronounced in Italy. Can someone help me?

it sounds like the corruption of a family name that at the beginning probably was Lo Iàcono and it is definitely from Sicily.

I recorded how to pronounce it, it's mp3:

it's a little feeble, so keep the volume level high

I really like that....Maybe once we get married we will change it to the proper name! I plan on doing a little research myself....

I know the name was changed when they migrated to America.

His family says Lah Kanoh and my fiance and I say it Loy K ah No
But, I am intrigued by what you have told me...you are most likely correct!

And yes, the boys are definetly Sicilian!
    Thanks again!
