all round towm.....aint nothing but busy ass surface streets that Metro love to pull someone over for not being on the sidewalk with their board. Maybe the srtip but too many pedestrians.
Longboards are basically a long skateboard. not very good for tricks just fun to ride around and go down hills. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longboard_(skateboard) wikipedia does a better job of defining it and has pictures!! haha
Ahhh. TYVM. Bonanza Hill is an infamouse killer since it was paved. ZillaGod is my expert on that hill. (If he stops in again.) I'm still waiting on a call-back from my so-called step son board expert.
I know. it used to be a lot cleaner. I recall skating from one end to the other back in the 70's. I had a neoprene body, shortboard "Bradly GT" that sold for about $15.00 at most department stores. But damn it could get some speed.
Alright. I got the Ultimate Clark County ride. Go to Toyabe ntnl park. AKA Mount Charlston and ride back down to I 93. it's about a 4 degree down grade. otherwise, and MUCH closer to town is 'Bonanza Hill' in the downtown las vegas area.
Thank you matt for all your effort in finding me places. Once i get a car i plan on boarding down mount charleston because i dont think anyone would want to take me that far to watch me ride down a hill lol.
I just remembered another possibility. Red Rock rec area. they have plenty of Bike paths you could skate down and tour the desert stuff. (Paved with 'Hot-Top') And as Mod of the Nevada forum, I'm glad to help. Good Luck! and a BETTER ride!!!!!!!!
Ah, that makes sense. I have a balance and coordination issue, which would explain why I had no idea what a longboard is. Me on a skateboard is one downer of a trip . Hope you find some good places to board.
LMAO. I know the feelin son. I'm in a wheelchair these days, but I went down Bonanza hill on a bike once. Made it all the way to 22nd street. (PAST Eastern!) Hell of a ride.
I though THIS worthy of this thread. Skateboarders Travel On Strip To Celebrate Sport 06-21-2007 7:40 AM (Las Vegas, NV) -- The sport of skateboarding was celebrated on the Las Vegas Strip early this morning. Dozens of fans grabbed their boards and skated from the Fashion Show Mall to Mandalay Bay. It was just one of the events marking "Go Skateboarding Day," which supporters say is the official holiday of the sport. The first "Go Skateboarding Day" was held in 2004, and a number of events are being planned around the country today. The International Association of Skateboard Companies say boarders will raise awareness for the sport and its "creative celebration of independence."<
Bonanza Road does have a nice little hill starting at Maryland Pkwy and ending at Bruce St. I live just around the corner from the bottom of the hill. There is another nice hill at the end of Owens Ave at the base of Sunrise Mountain. Mount Charleston is definitely the best bet though for a lengthy ride.
well shit dude we gotta go longboardin sometime i know this kick ass place in summerlin it is fuckin awesome its like a big huge drain, so its like ur ridin waves, its sooooooo awesome. pretty dangerous though. I fractured my pinky in there but it is still so awesome. If u want some info on the place i will tell u. i gotta get the street names. Its pretty easy to find. What kind of board do u have? for me its the original pintail by sector 9 it kicks ass. What matt was sayin about mt charlston i had a couple buddies do that and it is craaaazy!!! i want to go there sometime. and SUN CITY! i want to go there sometime.
I also have a sector 9 not sure what kind i bought it from someone not a shop. The only place ive been is pueblo park lol they have a decent path that is good for practising sharp turns but nothing special.
i just ate it recently hella fuckin bad. I was going down an extremely steep hill and i used my friends bored. It was hella loose.(which i didnt know) I started going faster and faster i got the speed wobbles, but shit that was no problem for me i just crouched down and went with it. But because of the wobbles i couldnt carve and slow down so i just went straight down this steep hill goin about 35-40 mph. There was a red light in front of me so i was like ooooh shit!! so i tried to put a foot down to slow down and bam i fuckin fall and start rolling and all of the sudden i was skidding on the ground on my fuckin head. I was so lucky i decided to wear my grateful dead shirt on my head like a ninja. That saved my freakin life. My left arm got bad ass road rash. It was a pretty kick ass fall tho i must admit. It was on the top of alexander and 215 right b4 the bridge is where i started. If u ever go down it use tight board and carve really fast, its a fuuuuuun ride. shit now i want to longboard
my cousin started to longboard down that hill and also ate shit haha, but it was her first time and she didnt know that you were suppose to carve back and forth hahah
