longest dreads i've ever seen

oh my gosh you guys...i saw the coooolest dreads in the whole world yesterday! my daughter is doing a project on India and we were watching a video. this Indian man took off his huge turban, and omgosh, it was completely filled with his looooooooong dreads. i mean...these things went wayyyyyy past his feet. it was the most amazing thing i have ever seen. and each time he unwrapped a little bit, he was standing up, and ppl all around were watching, and he would put his hands together in a prayer position. it was just fantastic to watch. i wish i had a picture. you think he had NEVER EVER cut his hair since he was a baby or what? that was just amazing.

Probably hasn't or if he did at all probably only when he was younger. Hindus use dreadlock growing in their religion, the only reason we've never seen anyone from India wearing them is because it is also in their religion(to worshiping the god Shiva) to wear the turban and keep their hair covered and rarely seen! It sounds nice. Did you know some of dreadlock origin from the rastifarian religion is attributed to the hindu holy men? They came to Jamacia as indentured servents(19th century I think?). The earliest written record of dreadlocks too was in India. Random India facts. LOL

those are the longest dreads i have ever seen. They are from a shot in the film baraka and if you can see the dreads are all around him on the floor and he was using one to guide his reading in his book a bit like a finger. I gather he's a holy man but i'm not posivite as the film had no words, just music.

 

yah fleassy, they were just like that! it was so cool to watch him unwrap them and spill out all around him. i cant tell just how long this man's are, but see how they are all around him on the ground? when the man i saw stood up, they were STILL all around him on the ground. maybe that's the same guy

 

I hope I can have dreads that long one day.

That is so cool. I think to have dreads that long you have to have never cut your hair since you were born or something.

I was just thinking, the fact about the holy men and dreads...maybe include it in the myths and facts sticky post?

i saw a guy inthe airport with dreads down past his knees, almost to his ankles. i went up to him and said "dude i love your locks!' then he said "jah bless" it was so cool
