i love that movie. it's like my hat vs. snake eating an elephant initiation; if you can watch that movie without it changing your life i'll never bother to talk about science and philosophy with you.

the water crystals thing proves and reinforces karma as a fact. it makes me really optimistic. we CAN change the world, and all it takes is thought!

:) i'm glad it blew your mind... it blows mine more and more every time i watch it

Can you give a citation for that info (in a peer-reviewed scientific journal)?? I really don't think that anything has been better disproven than the notion that prayer can affect things in the physical world.

If you took it closer to home and saw it like this, were made up of like "dont quote me now" 70% water, our bodies. and if everyday our thought is mostly negative we might be destroying ourselve, I think this might revolve around the stress issue as well. You know stress will kill you faster than anything else saying. But I dont know I havent done enough reading to come to a conclusion yet. I just thought that it was very interesting.

One day we thought he world was flat and those who said it was round were laughed at. Well one day the things we think to be real probably aren't, and one day those being laughed at now will be part of that same group, the believers before science can prove it.

I recently learned that this stems from an idea in Shintoism (japanese religion) where it is believed thoughts/words can impact the natural world/kami spirits.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kotodama

I'm not saying this to discount the idea, because I feel religion/spirituality and science will in the end agree (there's only one Truth). Just feel it's good to have the whole story.

its so easy to effect the formation of water crystels i would have to see an experiment done by an unbiased researcher to believe it.

I like to think we do, just not one has confirmed these results yet.

, impartiel then,, what bugs me about this is the "positive" crystels look like comman ice crystels and the, and the "uneffected" crystels dont look right at all

The testing method should ensure (double blind, etc.) that bias cannot affect the outcome.
Bias itself isn't bad, since the researcher must propose something (something that can be tested, of course).

Also it would help if all images of the crystals were of the same magnification. While some pictures are clearly of crystals of frozen water others are not single crystals of water. They are either a different scale looking at agglomerations or just out of focus, though I guess the negative thoughts may be affecting the focus of the microscope. I don't know enough about the crystallisation of water to say whether all of the images are water. Though given the chaotic nature of the entire process of crystallisation im not inthe slightest bit suprised that making different sounds into the water produces different shaped crystals. Indeed id be far more shocked if any two were the same.

This is a similar principle in Aikido. Placing your mind in peace while performing the martial aspect has dawned a non violent martial art. and what would you know- the founder grew up Shinto.

another trick you can do for yourselves kids. we all have an innate light inside of us- quite literally. It is our life force, our spark if you will. You can expirament with this by doing the follow:

    Supplies:
2 tomatoes- same shape and ripeness.
    1 window ledge.

    Directions.
Place one tomato on the left end of the window ledge and one tomato on the right side of the ledge. choose which tomato you are going to look at every day. you must look at this tomato for a total of 2 minutes per day. You don't have to think special thoughts or anything, just focus in on that tomato, and give as little sight and attention to the opposite tomato.

The one you look at will stay ripe longer. Your light/life force has influenced is viability.

    I hope you're just joking...

Why even bother to try it? Regardless of the outcome, it proves absolutely nothing. So what would be the point?

did anyone do the tomato experiment?

That doesn't qualify as an experiment, because no matter what the results, and no matter how many times the results are reproduced, it still doesn't prove anything, even if identical results are achieved hundreds of consecutive times. It's a joke, a "prank" of sorts. It isn't possible to follow that method and prove ANYTHING regardless of the outcome.
