    Hi All,

My single lowrider female is now nicely budded up and her trychs are looking good, but not quite ripe. Does anyone have any experience of how covered they will get or how big the trychs should be before I harvest; I dunno if the trychs are going to be smaller given it's a dwarf - if you know what I mean! Also, how many of which leaves will get covered - this is my first ever grow, so I'm excited and don't want to fuck it up!

Incidentally, despite the fact that they are autoflowering and small yielders, I have to say they are smart plants - after all, I'm only just about to finish veging my Durban Poison and Ice, and while I wait another 6-8 weeks - I have a pretty decent crop from a single Lowrider plant; for all the con's - I have to say that it's a pretty decent pro!

I've seen everyone whinging about lowryder, and don't get me wrong - I understand all the points, but the fact is - it is ready to smoke as I'm about to start flowering my proper strains.

Also, Lowryder is NOT a ruderalis - I've checked out the genetics, it comes from William's wonder, Northern Lights#2 and a ruderalis; it ain't connosseur quality - but it's smoke, and judging by the pong I'm getting, a fairly good one (I can;t speak for anyone elses grow).

One other thing - it's a myth about all ruderalis sucking eggs - I've travelled around Czech, Latvia, Poland, Estonia etc. and there are a lot of ruderalis strains that are pretty potent; but with Eastern Europe still being new and the indica and sativas being stronger, it seems to have failed to come to the gear communities attention that there are plenty of ruderalis which do have a fair bit of kick; no - they ain't widow, cheese or bubblegum - but they can certainly spank ya!

I've seen a lot of really small lowryders and everyone is right when they say they will yield bugger all, maybe I got lucky with my single plant, but it's just over a foot and is an absolutely huge bud, thick and hairy - it smells potent too, and its trychs haven't fully matured (I think about 5 days). I can't strees hard enough that, considering it slots nicely in to my SOG, it's useful for a quick smoke. I'm definitely getting over 15g dried - I'll post a pic before I harvest so you can see what I mean - I thikn a few of you guys might be more than a little surprised! It'll certainly last me out until my other babies have matured.

My lowryder is one fat chick, and I call her whippet :)

    Laters,

Do you mean the trichomes will actually turn red? This doesn't seem right. I saw another lowryder post saying red hairs, and unless you have some freaky genetics the hairs should be clear and then turn slightly milky at harvest. I'm wondering if there are some strange different strains of lowryder, as trichomes at worst shoudl onlky turn amber, so I've read!

Thanks anyway, some are clouding up around about now - so I'm close to smokesville!

Pistils and trichomes are two different things man. The "hairs" = pistils, and turn like brown or red as they die off, the amber you're talking about is what you look for on the trichomes, the mushroom looking things that give buds their frosty look. When they are milky is early harvest, some people wait til they're amber. Experiment. See what you like, and take notes.

Duh - should've realised that :) Still learning this shit! I'm gonna post some pics later of the garden - I really think that if there's a grow virgin prize I'd be on the podium - you won't believe the size and I only swapped to 12/12 yesterday; I'm gonna need a new ceiling come harvest :)

    Thanks,

Ok, I just uploaded mainly "Whippet" my solo lowryder, and a few other pics of girls just going in to flower. I kid you not, Whippet is heavy, covered in crystals and smells to buggery. It's about 13.5 -14 inches from soil to tip and there is one massive central bud, with 4 big spokes and assorted other buds throughout - I've seen some of the Lowryder wimps from other growers - man must they be doing something wrong...

Still got a week to go, maybe a fraction longer - no red pistils yet, but they are starting to go off-white, hence me thinking about a week - and there is plenty of crystal now, even spreading to the larger leaves, not just on the bud!

My others are Ice (Cannabis cup winning Indica) and Durban Poison, the legendary 100% sativa - the Durban is about 3-4 feet and my Ice range from 2-3ft. I wanted to keep them manageable as it's all in a really small room - any longer in veg and I'd have been stuffed in a few weeks :)

My pistils are finally turning red - only a few days to go! New budshots of my sexy lowryder - see the crystal!

Tell you what, I haven't got a frikking clue what some growers must have been doing to the poor mites to get such weedy looking plants. I speak and sing to them daily, gotta give 'em a whole lotta love. Other than that, just some normal fertiliser that had a bit of perlite in it, occasional miracle grow and good leaching every 2 weeks; no fert in the final week and a half and now it should only be about 5 days before 50%+ hairds turn red.

I do have a 600w grow light and decent ventilation, whole setup cost less than 200 pounds with the seeds, including light, ballast, fertiliser, some mircale grow, some epsom salts, potash and - of course - lowryder, ice and durban posion seeds! Man, I'm gonna save a frikking fortune on what I used to pay to smoke!

I'll put up some pictures when I do te manicuring and harvesting, and also some pics of the nugs when it's dried. I have scales - so we can really see what a well grown lowryuder can yield. I still think between 14 and 20g - we should have a sweepstake!

    Happy daze :)

I would recomend L2. Ill be pulling my girls down in about 2 weeks. Ive found the more care you give these plants just as anything youll get more out.

Ive tried the coke bottle approach this time. loads of em.
Getting nutes right helps alot. ive found feeding once a week was plenty. I did increase the amount of top max as flowering becomes very aggressive. almost overnight.
