After hearing about Prussian Blue (yeah, I know I'm a little behind on the times) and the white supremecist group they are associated with, I ran into the KKK website which claims that MLK Jr. was a communist...pictures, history and all. My first question is...WAS he? And if he WAS...does it matter?
well...i wouldn't really call him that, but if he was i dont think it would matter at all. him being a communist wouldnt really change anything that he did.
Hey TreeFiddy...great sig...I have that poster in my bedroom According to the klan he went to communist meetings and supported communist politicians...don't ask me...
The Ku Klux are STUPID because they spell CLAN with a "K". On a more serious note, Martin Luther King Jr. wasn't a communist. I've read loads of his stuff, and he doesn't say anything slightly related to communist theory. I seriously doubt he was a communist, if you need proof he wasn't, read "A Letter From Brimmingham Jail" (Sp?) Anyway, it should be easy to find. Even if he was a communist, which I seriously doubt, it wouldn't change what he did. I am ok with Communists, but I hate the KKK.
birmingham jail * i'm blessed enough to live an hour away from the historically most racist city in the u.s.......fuck yeah.
Reasonable beliefs and ambitions are so far from the hateful fascist ideal of the Klan that they feel they can accurately label those reasonable beliefs "communist."That's how it works - the really liberal ones will call strong republicans fascists, and conservatives will call far leftists communists. Except with the clan the whole thing is shifted to the right, easily placing a civil rights activist within the communist edge of their warped political spectrum.
Don't even think of that. Keep only your peaceful thoughts. Don't let the words of politics change your preception.
MLK wasn't a communist, and said nothing about economics other then the class inequality of blacks, which isn't a communism issue, its a civil rights issue. Which has gotten better since the 60's, but we've still got a long way to go. And it wouldn't matter if MLK was, because he was one of the greatest people who's ever lived. Politics are debatable, temporary issues, civil rights for everyone isn't. Martin Luther Kings work effected civil rights in the whole world. I don't think communism is a great idea, as it's forced redistribution of labor amongst the state. Socialism is a debatable position, especially in terms of education and healthcare, but communist regimes are forceful in their very nature. The communism Marx was talking about can be best described as socialism, and the idea of the complete loss of law under communism is crazy. Look at the USSR, which trampled human rights, and led to the the PRC. Anyway, I don't want to get into the communism-socialism-capitalism debates which make up about of of the political sections here. Also, don't listen to anything the klan says about anything. The fact that they conclude that a black man talking about class differences makes him a communist indicates the kaln knos nothign about MLK or communism.
