Majic Bus is the tale of a 1992-93 class year cross country odessy for students fromHofstra's New College.
Professor and author Doug Brinkley pulls a LOT of US history into locales, but even more philosophy-opening comments.

Some failings on Geography (for example, Cripple Creek is NOT a physical neighbor to Black Hawk and Central City, Colorado, and some places in Boulder don't mesh with the timeline)

but a good read with some great path crossings ( Bill Burroughs in Lawrence KS, Ken Kesey in Oregon)
Some comments on where the US yuppie police state was headed, almost scary to think that was 13 years ago and it seems to be accurate.

    highly reccomended.
